Happy first day of May everyone! I hope you enjoyed April and the past season of Duel Days and that you're looking forward to a new month with rankings! I also wanted to let you all know that I had a chance to use Overcharge in my deck at locals yesterday and it was amazing! Much like Robby mentioned, it is very much like a Fire Civilization version of Stormspark Blast but for two less mana and an extra boost! Alrighty, let's get started with today's card that could be potentially as useful, Lepidos the Ancient.

Name: Lepidos the Ancient
Civilization:
Nature
Type: Creature
Race:
Megabug
Level:
8
Power:
8000
Flavor Text: Wherever its shadow passes, new forests grow.
Rarity: Very Rare
Set Number: 49/55 l 4EVO

Abilities:

Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Deafening Wingbeat
- Whenever one of your creatures wins a battle, choose one of your opponent's shields. Your opponent puts it into his or her mana zone.

Lepidos the Ancient is a Level 8 Megabug with 8000 power and Double Breaker. It also has a subtle text that states that when any of your creatures win a battle, you get to get rid of one of your opponent's shields! But what about shield blasts? They don't matter! The shield blasts can't be activated even if they have one and your opponent doesn't get to add them to their hand! It does add the card to their mana zone which can create some advantage but by the time this occurs, your opponent is likely already at 7 or 8 mana and a little extra mana really isn't going to hurt.

Okay, I understand that Lepidos is a Level 8 creature but most decks using it tend to use mana ramp after all and they can get this card out by turn five or six. This leaves your opponent in a difficult position, they either have to have Death Smoke, Terror Pit, or Root Trap to banish it or they need to find a way to get a bigger creature out and attack over it and it's 8000 power body.

I don't recommend attacking your opponent's shields when playing this card as it should be focused on going after creatures or just staying put to avoid attacks from Infernus and company or an Evolution creature. By playing this card you take the guess work out of wondering what your opponent has in their shield zone. All you need to focus on after playing this card is taking out your opponents creatures (and obviously attacking directly, of course! :) ). It has potential but requires a skilled deck builder that wants to try something outside of the ordinary. Give it a shot at locals and see how this card can work for you!

Ratings:

Constructed: 2.75/5.00 (The goal isn't to get him in the battle zone, that's easy. It's what you do after you play him that matters!)

Limited: 3.25/5.00 (A great card once you can get it out but it's a little slow in a format that's all about evolving.)

Make sure to stop by my channel and check out a narrated match that I posted on YouTube and also make sure to stop back again tomorrow when we continue to discuss and review some more potential "sleeper" cards and prepare you for the upcoming KMCs! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!

I hope everyone is getting ready this weekend!! It's crunch time and you only have a few more days for the KMC's! So lets look at a card that basically needs a deck dedicated to him!

Lepidos the Ancient

Civilization: Nature
Card Type: Creature
Level: 8
Race: Megabug

Card Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Deafening Wingbeat — Whenever one of your creatures wins a battle, choose one of your opponent's shields. Your opponent puts it into his or her mana zone.

Power: 8000

Bam, so this was out first iteration of "shield skipping". Currently it is the only card that does not put an opponents shield into their hand. However this isn't exaclty what I would call "easy" to pull off. Though with each tap card we get it becomes "easier".

So this guy requires some precision and some construction around him. Obviously Light is the natural ally of this card because it enables Lepidos' effect. However although his effect is cool it tends to get wrecked by removal because it does "nothing" all by himself. I have seen some really neat decks around this guy however they just haven't been able to stack up to some of the current decks.

Summary:
I like Lepidos, I like how his effect is rewarding and fair. By passing shields can be outright brutal in the correct scenarios. However you really have to build around this guy to take full advantage of his effect. So

Constructed 2.5/5
Limited 2.5/5
