							  | Heya all,
~Zephyr~ here again! This week, we are still looking
at the Very Rares from Set 10, Shockwaves of the
Shattered Rainbow but looking at the specific Civ
cards available! And we start things off with the
							Light Civilisation's 2 contributions, Ryudmila,
							Channeler of Suns!
 Name: Ryudmila, Channeler of Suns
 Cost: 5
 Race: Mecha Del Sol
 Civilization: Light
 Type: Creature
 Rules Text:
This creature gets +2000 power for each of your
other untapped creatures in the battle zone.
When this creature would be destroyed, shuffle it
							into your deck instead.
 Flavor Text:
"Why can't there ever be a nice, fun reign of chaos
without some sort of righteous avenger emerging?" ?Gajirabute,
							Vile Centurion
 Power: 2,000
 Mana Number: 1
 Artist: Naoki Saito
 Rarity: V
 Collector Number: 2

 Lets break it down......

Power, Cost & Effect: To start off with, 5 mana for
only a 2000 power creature is not great, but do keep
in mind that some very nasty cards that are in use
in decks today also have that same Cost to Ratio
pattern, the main one being Corile! Still, 2000
power isn't going to get you far in a duel
especially since most Fire spells can remove it very
early on! But Ryudmila get boost up depending on
your playing field and how clever you are when
attacking! For you see, for every OTHER creature
that remains untapped in your battle zone, she gains
a nice 2000+ power boost. So 5 creatures along with
Ryudmila untapped would make here a nice beefy 12000
power! Can't complain about that! Plus, if you are
clever enough to have either Toel, Vizier of Hope
are cleverly used Tra Rion, Penumbra Guardian to
untap your creatures, or just used Whisking
Whirlwing, you can keep the power bonus even after
							attacking!

But wait, there's more! When this creature is
destroyed in the battle zone, whether it be by
creature or spell, it gets shuffled back into the
deck instead of the graveyard so it potentially can
come back out on to the field several times in 1
duel, depending on how it goes! The only way your
opponent could overcome this effect is by sending it
from the hand to the graveyard or by sending it to
the mana zone instead! The only bad thing I can say
about this card is that if you don't have any of the
3 options available that I said before, you could
leave Ryudmila wide open for a counter-attack as
everytime you attack with another creature and have
it tapped, she loses her bonus, making here easier
target for removal, so be strategic when using her!

Race: Mecha del Sol is a very unique race with all
the creatures have names of Female Russians
(Natasha, Petrova, Misha, Sasha etc.) but all are
very different cards, but the bad thing about this
race is it has no evolutions and all your choices
are expensive, with the lowest costing creature
being 5 mana. While the majority of Mecha del Sol
creatures won't be used in decks, one is being used
at the moment by myself and is causing a major stir
in meta's everywhere, that being Petrova, Channeler
of Suns! Otherwise, the others aren't great, but
Ryudmila could be useful in the right deck!

Availability: Very rares are tough to get,
especially from a 120 card set, but again, this card
won't appeal to everyone's tastes and so it might be
easy to trade it off someone instead!

Overall, I think that Ryudmila is a nice card and
people could easily abuse her effect to their own
advantage but I'd definitely see her being used more
in fun decks than tournament decks as while she has
a nice effect, she isn't as good as others so she
will usually be given a miss!

Limited: 5/5 - For only 5 mana, you can easily pump
here up to be something massive and clean house on
your opponent if used right. A definite good card!

Constructed: 3/5 - Can't see her being played in
anything more than a fun deck. Nice card, but not
							tournament worthy!

 ~Zephyr~'s Score - 3/5

If anyone wants to discuss anything that I have
mentioned in this COTD, feel free to email me @ -
mexflash@hotmail.com. Generally always up for a
friendly chat & discussion. Also available on Msn &
							for duels on DMC v2.0!

 Until the next COTD!

 Let there be light

Ryudmila Chaneller Of Suns comes from Shockwaves Of
The Shattered Rainbow and is a Light Mecha Del Sole.
Ryudmila's effect is it gains +2000 power for your
							untapped creatures.

If its effect said for each untapped creature in the
battle zone, then it could probably see more play
outside a light or blocker deck. All of the Mecha
Del Sols are Channeler Of Suns and doesn't have any
support or evolutions. Power to Mana ratio is bad, I
mean I know it's because of the effect, but 5:2000
isn't the first choice for five mana (my choice is
							Terradragon Regarion but there's others).

Pros: This + Blockers = Powerhouse

Cons: Not the best choice for 5 mana for 2000 power

 Absolutely NO support

 Art: 2/5 I've seen better

 Overall Rating: 2/5

See ya guys, or girls, next time

							  | This week we
will get to know 2 fatties with power changing
ability. The first one of the 2 is Ryudmila, Channeler of Suns.

 Name: Ryudmila, Channeler of Suns
 Cost: 5
 Race: Mecha Del Sol
 Civilization: Light
 Type: Creature
 Rules Text:
This creature gets +2000 power for each of your

 Flavor Text:
"Why can't there ever be a nice, fun reign of chaos

 righteous avenger emerging?" ?Gajirabute, Vile
							Centurion
 Power: 2,000

Cost: 5 mana for at least 2000 power... Not much for
							applaued for but she
gots potential to be really big... And I mean in
							power.

Race: Mecha Del Sol is a quite new race... The most
							known (or reknown) of
the Mecha Del Sols is Petrova. Unfortunaley, Petrova
							can't boost herself or
her kindred. Summarize, Ryudmila don't got alot of
							support.

Effect: It's obvious that you are going to attack
							first with this creature.
With three other creature in your field, Ryudmila
							will get 8000 on her
attack. Fairly okay, but I really miss double
							breaker potential. Her other
effect is a plus. The only thing that can really
kill her is discard + Slash
 Charger/Future Slash.

 Pros:
 * Can pretty easy kill creatures like Bolmeteus etc.
 * (In some way) indestuctible.
 * Can be very powerful in mono-light decks, where
							almost every other
 creature will remain untapped anyways.

 Cons:
 * Mono-light deck not being really good these days.
 * Will loose her power if you attack with rest of
							your creatures.
 * Being a Mech Del Sol.
 * Not having double breaker ability.

 Constructed: 2.5/5
 Limited: ?

							  | Ryudmila,
							Channeler of Suns
Hello, I'm back from North Carolina by now. Today we
							have a card I enjoy.

 Ryudmila, Channeler of Suns

 Mana Cost - 5

 Type - Mecha del Sol

 Mana Number - 1

 Attack - 2000+

Civilization (Yay I remembered!) - Light

Effect - This creature gets +2000 power for each of
your other untapped creatures in the battle zone.
When this creature would be destroyed, shuffle it
							into your deck instead.

Flavor Text -"Why can't there ever be a nice, fun
reign of chaos without some sort of righteous
							avenger emerging?" ?Gajirabute, Vile Centurion

This card might get some play in Light decks. For
each creature you have untapped this creature gains
2000 Attack. By some mishap if this behemoth gets
destroyed, it gets returned to the deck where you
can pray you draw it again or play cards to draw
							faster.

 5/5 Overall

 5/5 Art (It's a giant angel/Machine thingy.)

For those of us Mist Rias spammers out there who
nearly deck out every game, we are now presented
with a card that will give us that one extra
turn.  Of course I’m teasing.  This is indeed a
very special card.  Let’s view the stats:

								Ryudmila, Channeler of Suns

								Cost:
								5

								Race:
								Mecha Del Sol

								Civilization:
								Light

								Type:
								Creature

								Rules Text:

								·

This creature is gets +2000 power for each of
your other untapped creatures in the battle
								zone.

								·

When this creature would be destroyed, shuffle
								it into your deck instead.

								Power:
								2000+

For starters this creature shows a lot of
potential.  Of course 2000 power for 5 mana is
pretty sad but the effect is something that will
completely blow your opponent away.  Just
imagine having at least 2 other creatures in the
battle zone.  Since we’re playing a light civ
creature, then chances are that the 2 other
creatures may be blockers, which aren’t usually
tapped to begin with.  So now Ryudmila goes up
to 6000 power on turn 5 for only 5 mana!  This
kind of power will allow you to overwhelm almost
								any blocker.

Now imagine if one of your other creatures
happens to be a Pala Olesis.  Ryudmila then goes
up to 8000 on your opponent’s turn, which is
when things will start getting ugly.  You can
also play a mass of weenie blockers and CIP
cards like Miele to completely abuse this
								creature’s ability.  The combinations are
								limitless!

Now we have the second effect, which used to be
completely unheard of in Duel Masters.  When
Ryudmila would happen to die it goes back into
your deck.  This is absolutely extraordinary,
but is it good?  Yes!  For players that can
design a deck specifically for Ryudmila this
effect is wonderful and may in the future seem a
little broken.  There are several ways to think
about it.  The first thing to think about is
recursion.  Most players go out of their way to
use search cards and spend mana in order to get
their favorite creatures back out into the
battle zone.  So when you think about it a
player would have to draw a card like Dark
Reversal, spend 2 mana to get a creature from
the graveyard, and then spend more mana to
re-summon it.  So why do that when you could
simply throw this card back into your deck and
just draw it after a few turns?  It’s like
drawing a Dark Reversal, right?  Of course,
except without the hassle of spending the 2
extra mana and needing recursion cards in the
deck.  Another way to think about it is that in
Duel Masters we’re only allowed to have 4 copies
of any card in a deck.  Ryudmila will make it
seem like you have 12 copies!  When your
opponent thinks that he’s exterminated this
titan it won’t be too long before he has to face
it again.  Definitely give Ryudmila a shot!

								The Good:

This guy will find a nice home in a heavy stall
or swarm deck.  It is huge and unstoppable.

								The Bad:

Ryudmila’s power goes down by 2000 for each
creature you attack with so keep that in mind in
case your opponent controls the field.  Soulswap
can also rain on your parade.

								The Ugly:
Crystal Paladin and Scarlet Skyterror will get
in the way in case you’re relying on blockers
for power.  Just mix it up with creatures like
Miele and Kolon to really exploit Ryudmila’s
								effect.

								Constructed Rating:
4.5 – On turn 5 it’s really hard to choose
between Mist Rias and Ryudmila.  However, I’ll
put my money on the creature that refuses to be
forgotten.  Ryudmila’s power has the potential
to be enormous.  If you summon Mist Rias after
Ryudmila, Mist will not only power up Ryudmila,
but will also hide behind Ryudmila’s shadow.

								Limited Rating:
4/5 – At only 5 mana this creature can be a real
threat.  Blockers will have nothing on Ryudmila.

I hope you enjoyed the review
