That Guy That Plays DreamBlade

SPELLBOUD SCISSORS

We end off the week with a piece I expect to be popular with the new set being released. He is one of the 4 2-drops in the game so far, and this guy is a member of the Janus squad. Janus is getting more support in the upcoming set, and this piece should definity be on top tables if Janus is boosted to the extent Bloodcut was. With 2 - 2/5, his stats make it so he will get disrupted frequently, which also means he will stay around for a while. This is good for current Janus bands, relying on swarming with Janus creatures to enlarge the Janus Warpstrike created by the All-Seeing Mage. Regenerate is also a nice ability for the piece as well. While it can prevent the opponent from getting spawn points or making desireable moves or filling up spawn payments, it can also lead to somewhat wasted spawn points in the sense that it could be put to use on bigger characters or spawn point effects. Oh well, he's still good in my book.

Constructed - 4/5 - He works wonders for Aggro decks, and he is a solid 2 drop. No reason not to run at lease 1 in Madness.

Sealed - 3/5 - its pretty good even without too many other Madness guys

Artwork - 1/5 - who ever made this piece was probably drunk...battling scissors?

Charninja

Spellbound Scissors

Remember what I said about how could a low cost figure ever be a 5/5 across the board? Well, here's your answer: Yes, and Spellbound Scissors is that figure.

These shears run amok are what every weenie should be: They've got a great cost-to-power ratio, an awesome ability that, while it may not directly help with combat, definitely smoothes the spawn curve, and hey, they even look pretty cool. Wish I had these in 2nd grade Arts and Crafts.

In case you don't quite get it, the Regenerate ability is, on specific (i.e. low cost) creatures a very, very good thing. They are tailor-made (pun intended) to die... and come back. And again. And again. And again. You don't gain any spawn points when they die, but your opponent doesn't get any conquest points either, and when you get a wonky roll or it's getting to the late game and there isn't much else to spawn, these puppies come out swinging. A favorite early move is to just summon all of the alloted three on a roll of 7 or so, and just shift, shift, shift, claiming territory and locking up your opponent's early spawns. Not fancy, but boy-howdy is it effective.

Constructed: 5/5 They are so cheap, it doesn't matter whether you are playing any other Madness figures at all.
Limited: 5/5 Sure, you, won't be getting three, but even two will help with your curve, and that's just plain good.
