How to...Create a Webpage Part 2: How to keep it going By: andy

Now I must look at my site. Hey now it is pretty new, but that does not mean I do not know a think or two about keeping a site going. There are many things that you can do to get your site linked and that is what we will go over today. Today, my number one interest it keeping your site going or even helping it take off. So let's get started.

Yes, I am presenting this in a step form. Now I am confident that I could do this wonderfully in an essay form, but his will help you to understand and keep your seperate points clear. Also these steps are in no particular order, well, to a certain extent they are.

1. Now you site has just opened. What is the first thing you want to do. Well, generally you look to get linked by other web sites. Getting linked is the number one way to get your site out in the open. Now when I say to get your site linked I do not mean to go to some site called GoKu'S KiCk AsS SiTe ThAt Is BeTtEr ThAn EvErYoNe ElSe'S. Generally you want to stay away from these sites because being linked by these site's will get you no were because they probably do not get scrap when it comes to hits. Look at sites like Wiznut's DB page, Videl Vault, Temple O' Trunks, and other sites like this. The reason I name these sites because they are top notch sites and unlike the two sites I am about to talk about. Now let's look at Planet Namek and VegettoEX's DB Page. You don't want to jump at these pages right away, Why? Well, first off when you look at PN they generally only have linking sessions every 3 or 4 weeks and when they do they are not looking for sites that are brand new. To get linked by Planet Namek you must have established you site. I realize you may be saying " Well how can I establish my site if people won't give me a chance and link me?". Well, Planet Namek is at the top of the DB world and no one can go straight to the top. Now as for VegettoEX's page. VegettoEX does not link a lot of people, so you better have a site that can produce if you hope to get linked.

2. Now this rule may preceed the previous rule. If you have a chance talk to the web masters. Before my site was even up I talked to the web masters and there were about 4 that I talked to pretty often. Now in no way am I saying to suck up to these web masters so they link you because that is not right. Just if you have a chance talk to one of them. Also don't go and irritate the heck out of them. If they say that they are busy than leave them alone. The reason for this is because linking is totally up to the web master, so if you get on their bad side, well, don't plan on getting linked by that site.

3. Now for the next rule. Take people's advice. If you get an e-mail telling you how to correct your site don't get all pissed off and e-mail this person back saying they are an idiot. You have to learn how to take criticism becuause you are opening up a site that can be viewed by the whole world and in no way will everyone agree with what you do let alone like you. If you get an e-mail, read it, think about the suggestion, and heck, if you have the time e-mail the person back telling them that you appreciated there comments. This will show that you care about people's suggestions and this will bring people back.

4. When your site first opens up the more you can update the better. If you can update everyday than that is great. The reason for this is because not many sites can update each day and if you can do this than you have a reason for people to come to your site. Now of course you need some good material on your page, but updating everyday is a huge plus.

5. Geez, a fifth rule, well I better just make up a rule so I can make this longer. No, I would never make up anything that involves helping out the public. Actually, I just thought of a rule while I was typing that. Don't promise things unless you can deliver. Like in my case, that would be like me saying that I have interviewed Mr.E and Greg Werner (Ya right, the thought of that is awsome.) and that the interviews would be up the next day. Well, the next day comes and goes and for the next four weeks I do the same thing. Well, I would lose my visitors trust and interest. They would stop coming becuase I stopped delivering. As much as this is for fun, the success of a web page depends on how greatly the web master can please his visitors. Yes, it is up to you the visitors to keep web pages going.

6. Now these next few rules are pretty similar, but different so I will separate them. Now if you create a section and do not complete it. Let's look at an example on my site. Let's look at the fight guide. Now I am going to explain and list every single fight, but it could not be done all at once. So I still had a lot so I posted the section and intend on completing it. Now what I am saying is if you post an uncomplete section make plans on completing it and not ten years later. No one wants to look at a site of a bunch of incomplete sections. So if you start something finish it…..Well, unless it is a bomb or something, then that can hold off.

7. Now before a site is made you must outline your site or atleast that is how Tapion and I did it. Please I beg you if you are going to make a site then by all means you can have you image, movie, and audio galleries and all those other sections that are on every other site, but try to make something new. In this sites case we have interviews which besides Stever Harmon's site which is now done, was a pretty new idea. We also do scripts which is a pretty original section. This site also has a number of sections focused on the Daizenshyu's which is original. Just try to be original.

As for now that is a pretty good list to get you started. Now of course there will be a third part to this essay which will talk about what to do after your site is off and going. The reason I cut this one short is because I really did not want to over lap into things I said in the last part. So until next time, peace out, and good luck with your sites.

**Is this needed or did it just seem cool to do, O, well anyway, these tips are in my opinion good ways to help out your site, but these rules are not garunteed to work in all cases. Any harm to your site, body, or life can not be held accountable to DB Daizenshyu. Well I now feel important. So just ignore some of that, but seriously these rules will work about 99.9% of the time. Your sites success is NOT garunteed.**
