Next up is the Fusion between Dark Magician and Gaia the Fierce Knight I would’ve never thought about until now, but it’s fitting we have one now since Yugi used both monsters, meet Dark Cavalry.

Dark Cavalry is a Level 8 DARK Spellcaster Fusion with 2800 ATK and 2300 DEF. Stats work for me on a Level 8, and I still like DARK Spellcaster. The summoning requirements are Dark Magician and any Warrior monster, which it’s easy to get to Dark Magician, whether it’s the original one or a card treated as him, but I don’t know how often you want to put Warriors in a Dark Magician deck as I don’t know of many that could fit in well. You might be better off summoning this off The Eye of Timaeus. Dark Cavalry gains 100 ATK and DEF per Spell/Trap on the field and in the graveyards, meaning this can get pretty strong considering you’ll be running a ton of Spells and Traps as Dark Magician has a ton of good ones around him, and your opponent will likely have some as well unless you’re running against a Monster Mash deck that at most will only have Sekka’s Light. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, it deals piercing, which kinda fits in well with the Gaia theme. When a card or effect is activated that targets a card on the field (Quick Effect), you can discard a card to negate the activation and destroy said card. Nice targeting protection for any of your cards that isn’t Dark Magician, you’d especially want this to keep Eternal Soul safe as you lose basically everything once it’s gone. It doesn’t work when multiple cards are targeted at the same time, but few cards do that to be honest, so that’s fine. It’s good protection for your other cards in a Dark Magician deck. This card is decent for Dark Magician, especially with The Eye of Timaeus since I don’t know what Warriors can naturally fit into a Dark Magician deck except for maybe some of the Gaias since they are Level 7 and synergize with Dark Magician’s level for Rank 7s, but even then I don’t know how optimal it is to put a Gaia monster in your Dark Magician deck, so you’re better off using The Eye of Timaeus for now, which even then you got other options like Dark Paladin or Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, so having this as well with your Timaeus can help fill a role the other two can’t fill.

Art: 4.5/5 I’m sure this mostly exists just to put Dark Magician and Gaia together finally, which it’s a cool sight to see in all honesty.

Yugioh has tried too hard for too long to force unnecessary synergy between Gaia the Fierce Knight and Dark Magician.  So, behold, Dark Cavalry.  Spellcaster, Fusion, Dark, Level 8, with 2800 attack and 2300 defense.  All of that at base is good enough, and Fusion requirements here are Dark Magician and a Warrior type Monster.  The Warrior bit throws off the Deck, although Gaia is a Warrior, but alternate Fusion would be good.

The attack boost is unnecessary, and while a boost is never a bad thing, it’s negligible at best.  100 points for each Magic/Trap on the Field and in the Graveyards.  This could be say 1000 points midgame and much more late game, but 2800 attack to start…oh, but it has Trample, which is cool, making the modest boost a bit more advantageous for the player.

Lastly, as a Quick Effect, when a card or effect is activated that Targets a card on the Field (note Target) and note it doesn’t have to destroy, simply just Target a card in question, you can discard a card to negate the effect, and if successful, said card is destroyed.  It’s good, but there’s going to be times you NEED to do so, and can’t discard, or it doesn’t go through and resolve.  Fun card for sure, but pretty uninspired.

Art:  3.5/5  Mehh, the horse is too evil looking for me, Dark Magician has had a staff before, and they must be going fast, given the lights and lines in the background, in addition to the Magician seal, again

Hello Pojo Fans,

Dark Cavalry is a card all those that play the archetype have waited for.

You can use Super Poly, or Eye of Timaeus to summon this, the latter is easier as it requires only DM. That ATK boost can be huge depending on the deck you are facing, and the fact that it totals both graveyard’s worth of spell/trap almost ensures a 1000 ATK boost. Piercing is nice, fitting with the Gaia theme and his themed equip spell. The most important effect though is that target negation effect. 1-for-1 can help power the ATK boost, and while the negation is for targeting, it still negates and destroys the card. Cards like Trickstar Light Stage, DANGER! monsters, and Fog Blade will get negated and destroyed by this card, robbing your opponent of advantage.

Dark Paladin negates spells, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight protects your spell/traps, Dark Cavalry protects against targeting while destroying the card in question.
