Hello Pojo Fans,

Cyber Dragon Infinity is our Throwback Thursday choice and the only Xyz we are looking at this week.

You are more likely to summon this using Cyber Dragon Nova as the condition, which means any deck that can use two Level 5 Machine monsters can summon Infinity. Once you go into Infinity you have a powerhouse on the field regardless of how many materials are attached. While the ATK boost may not be significant, the absorb effect alongside a negation each turn is. If you don’t use Nova’s effect and summon Infinity you will have three materials, giving you a 2700ATK 3 negation/absorb monster. Middle to late game this card will be a deciding factor as you can pin your opponent under the negation and then absorb during your turn. Negation of any card effect will disrupt your opponent’s strategy and force them to use cards. Sure, Kaiju’s are a thing, but that goes for any monster. This card would be a pretty standard negation-class monster for a board if it wasn’t for the absorb effect. You can use both effects in conjunction with one another to stop a negater your opponent has and then get back the material you lost through absorption of their monster. This is a vicious loop that can last several turns if your opponent can’t use up your negation and then get around/over CDI. Defense-position and face-down monsters are immune to the absorbing effect, but unless your strategy has things that play that way, you are likely playing this defense until you get to the card(s) you need to take down CDI. Even a deck like Raidraptor or something that can summon a Raidraptor Xyz can use Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force to summon this.

CDI is a great negation monster, especially if you can make it with ease like in its intended deck and those like Galaxy. The absorb and negate rinse and repeat pattern is a vicious one to fall into.

Throwback Thursday is another card with an alternate art, and one that has seen meta play as well to the point where it got Ptolemaus banned, Cyber Dragon Infinity.

Infinity is a Rank 6 LIGHT Machine with 2100 ATK and 1600 DEF. ATK and DEF could naturally be better, but again a good Type and Attribute. The summoning requirements are 3 Level 6 LIGHT Machines, which is likely never happening. The real way you’re likely summoning this is by using Cyber Dragon Nova as material, which the effect allows for. I also mentioned earlier this week you got Soul Shave Force with Raidraptor – Force Strix. Next up it gains 200 ATK for each material attached to it, making it get a more respectable ATK stat on a Rank 6. You can also get more materials once per turn by targeting an Attack Position monster to attach it to this card as material, which is great to target the opponent’s monsters for. Finally it has a soft once per turn to negate a card or effect and destroy it by detaching a material, which is a great effect on any card. It’s one of many negations you could see on common end boards now-a-days, and it’s great negation to stop anything. Infinity is a great card for anything that can Rank-Up into it or summon Cyber Dragon Nova, free negation is great, especially negation that can load up ammo to keep negating.

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 4.25/5 for the original and 5/5 for the alternate art, it’s just so much better compared to the original. I like the pose and background better.

This isn’t a Link Monster…anyway, Cyber Dragon Infinity is a Rank 6, Light/Machine XYZ clocking in with 22100-1600 and requiring three Light Level 6 Machines for an XYZ Summon.

There is immediately an an alternate Summon method here using Cyber Dragon Nova, to make your life much easier.  Its Material goes to this card and Infinity gains 200x said Material.  Which is nice as 2100 is low for a Rank 6.

It can gain Material each turn by adding a face up Monster (also another 200 attack increase per) as long as the chosen Monster is in Attack position and as you should know, this can be an opponent’s Monster, making this all the more powerful.

Lastly, as a Quick effect, you can discard a Material when a card or effect is activated and negate said effect.  It’s destroyed if you’re successful.  This card is amazing taking everything in.  Gets stronger, steals Monsters, negates and destroys.  Can’t help but love it.

Cyber Dragon Infinity is a good example of too much for too little. If it were more generic, I would suggest a ban. As it is, though, it will likely see most of its plays in Cyber Dragon decks with a few other decks using it as a functional tech card.

The Summoning Condition is pretty straightforward. It is similar to other easy-upgrade XYZ monsters. You can essentially summon this card in any deck that can summon Cyber Dragon Nova. I have managed it easily in Karakuri, Galaxy and Superheavy Samurai decks, but of course it is easiest in Cyber Dragon decks.

This card can take an opponent’s Attack position monster and use it as XYZ Material. The effect targets, too. All XYZ materials on this monster give it a 200 ATK boost which is pretty substantial if it has 3 or more. The effect negation is hard to deal with, but if your opponent predicts said negation, they can usually play through this card, so always try to be aware of what’s going on.

While the card could have been a solid contender with a little less going on, at least it has HOPTs in place to balance it out.

The new art is better than the old design (in my opinion). It works well with the card frame and shows a lot of motion.

Versatility – 3
Rogue Plays – 5
Art – 5
Balance – 3
Uniqueness – 4

I score this card a 5/5. Use it if you can get to it in a reasonable way.
