We now get into Ignition Assault cards for a little bit, which we’ll return to at a later date, and we start off with a fun little card in Cross-Sheep.

Cross-Sheep is a Link-2 EARTH Beast with 700 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. The ATK is fairly laughable in all honesty, EARTH is neat, Beast is a cool typing, and those arrows are A+. The summoning requirements are any 2 monsters with different names, of which we got 5000+ different monsters in the game to use. The effect of this card is based on if you Special Summon a monster to a zone it points to, it’ll give you an effect based on the certain types of monsters it is currently pointing to. Rituals let you draw 2 and then discard 2, Fusions let you revive a Level 4 or lower monster from your graveyard, Synchros let your monsters gain a permanent 700 ATK, and Xyzs will debuff your opponent’s monsters with a permanent 700 ATK. The worst effects honestly go to the best summoning mechanics, as things should be. Synchros and Xyzs are the most generic Extra Deck mechanics behind Links, so you shouldn’t be getting the stronger effects for those, that should go to the less utilized mechanics in Rituals and Fusions. The Ritual effect is fairly neat to cycle the Deck in hopes to let you see 2 new cards for a future Ritual Summon or whatnot, though you do discard 2 in return. The Fusion effect is the best since this can be triggered off Instant Fusion to get a Thousand-Eyes or Millennium-Eyes for their uses while Cross-Sheep revives a monster to help extend your plays. Decks like Shaddoll and Fluffal would love another monster as an extender. It’s also great how this can get multiple effects if this points to a Ritual and a Synchro or a Fusion and a Xyz for example, but you can only get 2 effects at once and it’s a hard once per turn, so that would be it. Cross-Sheep is a great Link-2 in any Deck that likes to focus on Fusions and a solid option for Ritual strategies as well. It’s also great for Instant Fusion abuse. Synchros and Xyzs, while not getting terrible effects, would probably find a more useful Link for their plays.

We open the week with a Link Monster, in Cross-Sheep.  This is a Link 2 Monster, Earth/Beast type, with 700 attack, and arrows pointing to the respective bottom diagonals.  Any two Monsters (so long as they are differently named) are required to Link Summon this card.  This is a rather versatile card, with varying effects depending on what it Links to.

Effects here are cumulative, so you get them (in sequence) based on what is Linked to Cross-Sheep.  A Ritual Monster lets you Draw 2 cards and then discard 2 cards.  Drawing is always a good thing, and cycling and dumping can be just as good depending on the theme you’re playing.  The Synchro and XYZ effects here are almost identical.  Neither great but neither terrible.

Synchro gives all your Monsters a 700 attack boost, which is fairly solid.  And equally solid, the XYZ if Linked, would decrease all your opponent’s Monsters by 700 points.  The Fusion effect gets you a Special Summon of a Level 4 or lower Monster from your Graveyard.  That sets up all kinds of possibilities for numerous Extra Deck plays alone.  This card can do a lot, and it’s nice to see so many options here.
