[AUTO](VC/RC):At the end of the battle it attacked a vanguard, COST [Counter Blast (1) & put a card from your hand on (RC) as a locked card], and draw a card. (Locked cards cannot do anything. They are unlocked and turned face up as [Stand] at the end of their owner’s turn.)

Well, it’s better than Lady Battler of the Gravity Well. One advantage is that the locked card is considerably less random, so control over your field is much easier, and it’s also a plus to you either way. Second is that this doesn’t interfere with the soulblast Alter Ego Messiah needs to proc itself. But really, the biggest draw is that the Grade 4 can now be plonked onto the field if it’s taking up space in the hand, using this, so it’s relying less on being discarded for Alter Ego to then revive.

The fact this is end of battle as opposed to Gravity Well who’s on-attack also means unlocking to multi-attack is less of a pain to you. I’d say this is the new Messiah staple, replacing Gravity Well.
