WOTC CHAT REPORT
October 11, 2002 - by CHRISBO

Sigh, another "ordinary week" in news.  Still waiting on Battle Zone info, still waiting on Challenge Series schedules, still waiting on Promo cards (but at least "Pokemon 4Ever" is being released this weekend).  Coming soon...

Hang in there everybody,
 - CHRISBO

POKEMON LEAGUE / BATTLE ZONE:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #78 from bulletpokemonmaster:
Do you have any info on Battle Zone?
master_trainer_pat says, "Nothing new and exciting to announce"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #96 from marril2000:
any word on the BattleZone demo kit things? will professors be able to order them or will they be issued/offered to limited professors?

master_trainer_mike says, "Details are being worked out. It will not be open to everyone."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #98 from marril2000:
so... after year 3 of the league, does wizards still have additional green star stampers sitting around?
master_trainer_mike says, "They are buried in the desert next to the ET Atari 2600 cartridges."

EXPEDITION:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #73 from marril2000:
by any chance, why are only the refractor/holo e-cards have the dashes in the boarders? in the future if there are any cards printed without the code (if any), will the 'cutoutness' of them be there, or will it be a solid yellow boarder?

master_trainer_pat says, "The dashes are just a design to take the place of the actual bar code static that can't be used on those cards due to the foil"

AQUAPOLIS:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #71 from soslowpoke:
Any Aquapolis info you can tell us?
master_trainer_pat says, "We're kinda keeping a lid on the info until we're absolutely ready to let that little monster out of the box"

master_trainer_pat grins evilly.

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #116 from paulie1084:
When is the next pokemon expedition set coming out?
master_trainer_mike says, "No set date yet. I would look late this year, early next."

PROFESSOR PROGRAM:

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #67 from marril2000:
By any chance, do you know when the next wave of professor cards will be sent out, and if any, the most recent cut off?
master_trainer_mike says, "I am waiting for a final report to check on Master Professor status updates, then the next wave will be sent out. Hopefully early next week."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #104 from scyther_trainer:
Could you explain what you need to do to become a master professor?
master_trainer_mike says, "The details are on the web site. You must be a Professor in good standing, and then earn 5 participation points within a year. You earn a point by acting as a TO for a tournament, as a head judge for a tournament, working as staff at a premiere event or submitting occasional playtest forms (when they are requested). Other ways will open up in the future as well."

PROMO CARDS:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #93 from bulletpokemonmaster:
Do you know of anymore promos coming out after the Celebi promo?
master_trainer_pat says, "I don't know of any that I'm allowed to give out info on yet. More promos are on the way though..."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #88 from marril2000:
from past experiences, the movie promo is packed with a little advertisement card, by any chance, what will we see featured on this one? ;)

master_trainer_pat says, "Wait and see."

MISCELLANEOUS:

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #99 from raidenx:
Do you think pokemon will ever become as popular as it was in the past year or two?
master_trainer_mike says, "Why would it? The history of fads shows us that NOTHING ever comes back to its height. Look at Star Wars for example, even with the new movies released, it is not as big as it once was. BUT, any well done and popular IP can continue on for years (like Star Wars for example)."

darkmt_mike says, "It is steady however and has shown staying power."
