WOTC CHAT REPORT
January 17, 2003 - by CHRISBO

Well, Aquapolis is now to be considered "officially released" so they answered a couple of questions about the cards that DMTM has been posting over on PokeGym, but so far I have not heard of anyone actually getting any actual cards just yet.  There was also some good questions about running Battle Zones and sanctioning BZ tournaments (remember to submit your monthly forms on time people!).

Read on,
  - CHRISBO

AQUAPOLIS:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #531 from michel1be:
Is Aquapolis officially released and allowed in tournaments ?
master_trainer_pat says, "Sure. Does anyone have any yet?"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #557 from indigomaster33:
since aqua is out, will you be posting the aqua oracle online soon?
master_trainer_mike says, "May take a few weeks but yes"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #545 from m_p_douglas:
The store I will be doing a tourney at this Sat. thinks it will get Aquapolis in by then. Any hints, errors, or other information about judging the new cards that would help with running the tourney??

master_trainer_mike says, "The only thing so far is really read the cards."
master_trainer_mike says, "And there are several that have Poke-BODY's that don't allow you to attach a certain type of energy card to it form your hand."

master_trainer_mike says, "Remember that Rainbow energy does NOT provide any energy UNTIL it is already attached."
master_trainer_mike says, "So Rainbow COULD be attached to these cards."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #537 from soslowpoke:
Which Aquapolis theme deck did you design?
master_trainer_mike says, "I ended up doing them both. Let us know what you like or don't like about them. I posted an article a month or two back explaining part of the creation process and its limits."

BATTLE ZONE / SUPER BATTLE ZONE (Feb. 15):

master_trainer_mike says, "Also events and I are working out the locations of the upcoming Super BattleZones. Just so you know, the locations being chosen are based upon the number of players in the area, TO's that have sufficient experience, and other such factors. Don't worry if your exact location doesn't get picked this time. If this goes well, we will do it again and I will change locations to make it fair if that happens."

master_trainer_mike says, "It takes place on Feb 15th. There will be cool prizes, trophies, and so on.  Locations will be announced next week."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #534 from soslowpoke:
When will the prizes for SBZ be announced?
master_trainer_pat says, "I don't know if we've decided when it will be announced yet. We thought we'd just wait and let it be a surprise!"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #568 from soslowpoke:
Is there an entry fee for Super Battlezone?
master_trainer_mike says, "Yes, but details to come."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #535 from wizo_pokemom:
is there a limit on how many players a superBZ can handle?
master_trainer_mike says, "Each Super BattleZone kit is made to support 50 players."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #562 from wizo_pokemom:
is there supposed to be an advance sign-up for SuperBZ? I would hope so, since the seating is so limited...especially if people plan on travelling to these...:-(

master_trainer_mike says, "Well, that would be up to each location. Also there are 50 locations for this and the average attendance for the last Challenge series was about 35, so 50 should be fine. With the additional locations and all at the same time, hopefully this won't be a problem."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #584 from skywolf9653:
Have you been pleased with the BZ results so far?
master_trainer_mike says, "The number of sanctioned events has really increased and the powers that be notice stuff like that!  Also, most of the feedback we are getting form the retailers is favorable. What do you guys think of it?"

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #526 (and #530) from marril2000:
hey mike! good news, i got a BattleZone going over here in NH. sadly it only lasts through feb. 15th... anyways, the store ordered the january kits... when do i have to submit the report for the BZ-League by for the month of January? if its past the date the report form is due for january, should i still send it a bit late?

master_trainer_mike says, "If BattleZone is sanctioned, just send in the sanctioning report. If it is run as a league, either mail or fax in the report form, or you can submit form the web site as well. Please try and get those reports in by the end of the month/start of the next one, please."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #542 from bigdaddysnorlax:
I just want to confirm that a sanctioned BZ tournament can be reported electronically through the DCI Reporter software, correct?

master_trainer_mike says, "Correct."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #583 from m_p_douglas:
If I make my sanctioned events into BattleZone Sanctioned what would I do different besides mailing in sanctioning
master_trainer_mike says, "A store has to purchase BattleZone kits in order for you to run a BattleZone event. The sanctioning forms do need to be mailed in, but you can still report sanctioned BattleZone events electronically."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #598 from bigdaddysnorlax:
Is it possible to run BZ in a tournament format but not sanction it?
master_trainer_mike says, "Sure. I think you are offering your players more by sanctioning it, but whatever works best for you and your players."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #538 from farbsman:
When we submit a battlezone report over the internet, would it be possible to recieve an automated email so we know it went through?

master_trainer_mike says, "Sorry, the system isn't set up for that yet. I will suggest it though."

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #539 from chrisbo:
What's the lead time in ordering BZ kits. For example, if I want to run a sanctioned BZ tournament, how far in advance will my store need to order the kits? A week, two weeks, or more???

master_trainer_mike says, "It takes some time, I would expect at least 2-3 weeks. Try to order by about the end of the second week of any month to receive the next month's kit on time."

PROFESSOR / DELEGATE PROGRAMS:

master_trainer_mike says, "FYI, I am mailing out the first set of Professor exclusive promo cards that Delegates have earned. They are very cool! I hope you like them."

master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #524 from steelixownzu:
What are those special promos for professors?
master_trainer_mike says, "You have to wait and see."

PROMO CARDS:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #544 from soslowpoke:
any new promos you can tell us of?
master_trainer_pat says, "We already told you the movie one (the Suicune) that's the last one we found out about."

SKYRIDGE:

master_trainer_pat presents the speaker with question #543 from bodragon:
Since Skyridge is the next expansion currently being translated, are you targeting its release date by May?
master_trainer_pat says, "It's a secret.... but that's a good guess."
master_trainer_pat smiles.
