The first battle is Poliwath vs. Pikachu. Pikachu is VERY easily beaten. Then Ash uses Charizard, it is easily freezeblasted (is that right?) by the Poliwrath, then we see the Poliwrath’s trainer is leaving, even when he seen the freeze Charizard! During the night, we see the heroes trying to warm up the Charizard, (the fire in it’s tail is very small), who starts to remember it’s moments with Ash, since when it was a Charmander.
When the sun shows up, Ash woke up and see Charizard healthier, he greets Charizard, and now Ash knows that Charizard will finally obey him! Later Team Rocket, steel Pikachu, but the mouse is saved by the dragon. Then we see the Poliwrath trainer, returning, Ash’s Charizard fight with him, having a win this time. Ash knows that Charizard will (finally) obey to him, not making him lose like the Pokémon League anymore.

Once again, our heroes are sailing across the water on Lapras. Out of nowhere, a boat nearly ran them over. The driver apologized and introduced himself as Tad. He recognized Ash. He said that Rudy was impressed with Ash’s battling skill back on Troveta. Tad wanted to see for himself and, once they got to land, they got ready to battle. Pikachu was easily by Tad’s Poliwrath. Out of good ideas, Ash instinctively called out Charizard. Well, he did what Charizard does best... He didn’t listen to Ash. And, in turn, he lost the match. Tad merely walked away and offered to have a re-match when Ash could handle his Pokémon. Charizard had a tough time recovering. Misty put blankets on him and Ash massaged and talked to him until they both fell asleep. That morning Charizard was up and ready to go! Team Rocket showed up, and with Charizard and Ash working as a team, they were defeated quickly. Ash had that rematch with Tad, and with much persistence, Charizard beat him! Charizard now has a new respect for Ash, and his adventures with his evolved Charmander will continue...

I live in Canada, and understand that you in the states are a bit behind in episodes. So you can feel free to use this one once other episodes come in.
Ash, Misty, Tracey, and Pikachu are all riding Lapras when they are almost hit by a boat! A guy named Chad apoligizes, and asks Ash if he had just won a Orange Island Badge (he did, his third one). Chad challenges Ash, and the fight at the nearest island. Ash chooses Pikachu, and Chad chooses Polywrath, who one a fighting tournament before sometime. Ash’s Pikachu can’t seem to do the trick, so, thinking he’ll have the element of surprise behind him, Ash chooses Charizard. Charizard won’t obey, and Polywrath wins with an Ice Beam. Charizard is frozen solid. Ash gets him out, and Chad leaves, telling Ash they’ll have a re-match once Charizard is trained. Ash stays up all night with Charizard, trying to warm it up as it’s flame on it’s tail is dying out. (Most of the show is just Ash talking and warming up Charizard). Charizard remembers it’s time as a Charmander and Charmeleon, and it’s tail erupts in flames! Charizard is strong again. Team Rocket comes along to do their standard Pikachu stealing, and Charizard, seeing Ash is hurt, wants to repay Ash, so he uses Rage and wipes Team Rocket out. Chad heard all the commotion, and came back to see what was going on.
Ash and Chad then fight again, Chad using Polywrath, Ash; Charizard.. Charizard actually listens to Ash! Charizard is almost frozen again, but wins with a Seismic Toss. Chad leaves the island, and Ash provokes Charizard into Flamethrowing the whole group! This episode was a memorable one, as it marks Charizard listening to Ash. I give it 5 *’s out of 5.

episode begins with ash,misty,tracey, pikachu and togepi riding along with
lapras (where have i seen this before)and ash is feeling great about his victory
over rudy at the trovita gym and the fact that he needs one badge to qualify for
the orange league.Just then a boat almost crashes into them. The guy(named
chad)apologizes and tells ash that he has heard of him at the trovita gym and
challenges ash on the nearest island and ash ,extremely confident he can win,
accepts .When the land on the island ash sends in Pikachu and chad sends out a
poliwrath wearing the p1 championship belt which ash had won with
primeape.Pikachu uses all its energy against poliwrath but even the electrifying
pikachu couldn’t harm this poliwrath. Then ash uses charizard which doesn’t
obey ash yet loses. It didnt just lose ,it got frozen into an ice cube.ash
breaks it out and from there on in ash is constantly warming charizard all night
while ash and tracey set fires all round charizard to heat it up but its
tail-flame is still small and getting worse. when charizard regains
consciousness it tries to us flamethrower on ash but doesn’t have the energy
and falls unconscious When it wakes up it notices ash asleep on it and remembers
his times as a charmander and how ash saved its life once before and then sees
the error of his way and remembers how much of an undeserved bad attitude it
directed towards ash and then he changes and obeys ash.but before ash can get it
in his head team rocket shows up and steals Pikachu. they use a drilling vehicle
and ash chases but charizard lets ash on and they chase team rocket destroy the
drill and get Pikachu back.then Charizard uses rage attack and destroys team
rocket. When chad see’s this he challenges ash to a Charizard v poliwrath
rematch and in brilliant move uses
seismic toss and defeats the poliwrath. when it is all said and one ash provokes
charizard into using flamethrower but in a carry-on fashion this is the BEST
episode an on a scale of 1to20 i give it 25.this episode marks a turning point
and ash now has a much better chance
of acheiving his dream with Charizard on his side.
