Hello Pojo Fans,

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Swan is the last Fire Fist for the week and the new Fusion for the archetype.

Generic requirements aside from it being Beast-Warrior support all-around. Burn damage is always welcome to do to your opponent, and 200 for each of your Fire Formation cards isn’t awful. You will likely get between 400-800LP damage. 1-for-1 pop effect in the Battle Phase will cause a replay and maybe open up your opponent for a direct attack. Combo him with Peacock (may be why they shared artwork in Fire-Formation – Ingen) to pop one monster and steal another (if you have Peacock’s zone open). If paired with Eagle you won’t be trading a Fire Formation for a monster, leaving you to keep your Continuous Spell/Trap for something else. Ingen and Domei will give you something back off their destruction. You run multiples of several Fire Formation cards, giving you plenty of ammo even if your other Fire Fist cards get to them first. Good removal, easy to summon, and best of all, the 1-for-1 is a Quick Effect, giving you the option to use on either turn.

Most likely not a surprise here, we end the week with Fire Fist’s new Fusion that is Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Swan.

Swan is a Level 8 FIRE Beast-Warrior Fusion with 2600 ATK and 2200 DEF. Fine stats for the Level, though it being an easy to summon Fusion really makes the Level not matter that much except for Xyz or Synchros maybe. The summoning requirements are any 2 Beast-Warrior monsters (so I’m obligated to note this is a good Super Polymerization target against Beast-Warrior decks no matter what this does) and coming by 2 Beast-Warriors is easy, especially in Fire Fists where every single one of them is a Beast-Warrior. Upon Special Summon, not specifically Fusion Summon so you can trigger this with Dragon, you can burn the opponent for 200 damage per Fire Formation Spell/Trap you control face-up. I imagine on average you’ll get 600 damage and the max is 1200 with the five backrow and the Field Spell zone, so it isn’t much usually, but free burn is free burn. During the Battle Phase as a Quick Effect, you can send a face-up Fire Formation Spell/Trap you control to the graveyard (free with Eagle of course) to target a card the opponent controls and destroy it. Free disruption during either Battle Phase is nice, even though as I mentioned it is limited to the Battle Phase, but that’s fine if this stays on the field upon entering said phase. It can easily pop a monster that can kill this thing (bar it having protection) or just get rid of a Spell/Trap that’s sitting on the opponent’s side that you’ve been afraid up. Free destruction is nice, even though it is maybe the worst removal in targeting destruction, it’s still good and it’s still removal. Each effect of Swan are hard once per turns, so no clearing the opponent’s board so easily and no burn FTKs with this. Swan is a great Fusion for the archetype it was built for, so a few copies are warranted with Ingen being searchable and recyclable so easily, but it’s a good Super Polymerization target to note for when Beast-Warrior decks rise to the meta, even if the effects won’t end up mattering for you in that case.

Art: 5/5 I expect a Swan to look elegant, but I like how cool this one looks instead.

I assume y’all saw this coming, given the piece of Fusion support we looked at this week (as we went hand and hand with the Ritual side last week) but closing our week is Brotherhood of the Fire Fist-Swan.  Swan is Level 8, Fire, Beast-Warrior, requiring two Beast-Warriors for a Fusion Summon (allowing for play out of the theme) with 2600 attack and 2200 defense.  Not bad, but a shade lower than I’d like on Level 8.

So, first is a burn effect (why don’t these guys burn more, anyway) where you deal 200 Damage x the amount of Fire Formation Magic/Traps you control. That’s probably 400-800, but burn is good, could be a fun way to finish a game maybe, and I love that this includes ALL Special Summons of this card, not just Fusion Summon.  So the potential for more than once to burn is here.

Lastly, for a Quick Effect, during the Battle Phase, by sending a face-up theme Magic/Trap to the Graveyard, you can Target and destroy a card (ANY card) your opponent controls.  Each effect here, continues to be, once per turn.  I love this effect.  Destruction of anything, not through Battle, let alone DURING the Battle Phase, is fantastic.  Your opponent can play around that to a degree, but still, it’s very good.

Art:  5/5  This swan looks more dangerous than beautiful, and the Fire here is dark in its bright, warm colors.  Al this white really works for me on this too.  What a great couple weeks it’s been for art.
