What’s up, Rogue Squad?!  Since the sneak peek of the new Bermuda Triangle set was this past weekend, I decided for this week to have a look at the shiny new mermaids.  Speaking of shiny, for today’s card, we’re going to have a look at the new PR♥ISM G Unit, Shining Garnet.  First and foremost, I love how PR♥ISM are weaning away from the reliance of Vert especially considering how Shining Garnet (S. Garnet for short) is reliant on the heart’s skills, which means that S. Garnet works best with two specific units, and that’s the original Garnet (No $*!+) and Labrador.  But there’s a drawback to both Garnets and to Labrador, and that’s they’re reliant on having, at the very least, Limit Break active, meaning that S. Garnet is a mid-late game card, but to make matters worse, both Garnets are mainly ULTIMATE Breaks, meaning that you have to be at 5 damage to pull off anything Garnet related, and a smart player would only put you at 5 if you got a 6th damage heal.  S. Garnet is a good card all-around, but restricting it to being a late game card hinders its potential a lot.

So we got Glister Emeral to combine this with as well as G3 Garnet as backup, in case anyone is wondering. I mean, I know this has toys to combine with, but none of them are good enough to convince me the gimmick is actually good. Glister Emeral is of course the best friend…as long as you’re nearly dead, and to be honest, that’s a problem since an opponent could easily just float you on 4 and just let Criticals sort the win out.

A downer to be sure, but at least you don’t have to throw Vert in the face just to make things happen.
