Hello Pojo Fans,

Bond Between Teacher and Student begins a magicians week here on Pojo, and is some new Dark Magician support.

As the name hints you’ll need both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl for this one. Great mechanics allowing you to summon DMG from anywhere but the banished zone, though I think it should’ve been a Quick-Play instead of a Normal Spell. The search and set of a “Dark Magician” theme spell from the deck is handy, essentially giving you another Dark Magic Attack search card (Dark Magic Inheritance). Dark Burning Attack, Bark Burning Magic, and Dark Magic Twin Burst are specifically for the Dark Magician Dark Magician Girl combos you are attempting when running a card like this to help get the other onto the field. Sage’s Stone calls Dark Magician to the field, this brings DMG to the field, Dark Magic Veil will summon either from the hand.

Good piece of support if you are running a deck based around the most iconic couple in Yu-Gi-Oh history.

Bond Between Teacher and Student kicks off a Magician week that we desperately needed. This card, however, is not needed. It’s a free, hard oncer per turn Normal Spell Card that requires Dark Magician to be in your control. Then it Special Summons Dark Magician Girl from anywhere except the banished zone. Finally, after the Special Summon, you get to set one other Spell Card directly from the deck from the following list: Dark Magic Attack, Dark Burning Attack, Dark Burning Magic, or Dark Magic Twin Burst. Running brick magician girl isn’t worth it to me, and since she is required for this card to do anything, this card is also not worth it to me. Bond Between Teacher and Student can get good spells at the cost of running a bad monster.

Score: 3/5     Art: 2.5/5 There is much better DM and DMG artwork.

The last bit of Duel Power we look at, at least for now, is some Dark Magician related cards, with one that might make you want to play Dark Magician Girl now, Bond Between Teacher and Student (Which I’m glad was adapted from the Bonds Beyond Time movie finally).

BBTaS is a Normal Spell that if you control a Dark Magician, then you Special Summon a Dark Magician Girl that is in your hand, in your deck, or in your graveyard and then you can set one of four cards: Dark Magic Attack, Dark Burning Attack, Dark Burning Magic, or Dark Magic Twin Burst. Dark Magic Attack is a Harpie’s Feather Duster if you control Dark Magician and is very good despite already being searchable off of Eternal Soul along with all the other Dark Magician S/T searchers. Dark Burning Attack is Raigeki if you control Dark Magician Girl and though DMG might be your brick, you at least got a Raigeki searchable off it as well. Dark Burning Magic is a Quick-Play Spell that destroys all your opponent’s cards if you have both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, meaning it can be a complete blowout. Finally, Dark Magic Twin Burst boosts your Dark Magician by the ATK of all the Dark Magician Girls on your field and in your graveyards, which you’re likely running only 1 Dark Magician Girl because she can be a brick since her effect still isn’t very good. Either way, being able to have those cards easily accessible just for playing a Dark Magician Girl, which summoning a free 2000 ATK body that gains 300 ATK per Dark Magician that might reside in your graveyard, is a very good effect that warrants running Dark Magician Girl in dedicated Dark Magician builds. You only get one Bond Between Teacher and Student before, which is why running more than one Dark Magician Girl is not optimal. This is a good three of for many Dark Magician decks while Dark Magician Girl should be a one of since you don’t really want to draw it and at least this can revive it.

A Magician week, and this wasn’t even chosen by me!  Believe that or not, but here we are, and Alex is happy.  Bond Between Teacher and Student, a Normal Magic card, that has enhanced what Sage’s Stone did.  By controlling a Dark Magician, you get to Special Summon a Dark Magician Girl, and furthermore, Set a ‘Dark Magic Attack’ ‘Dark Burning Attack’ ‘Dark Burning Magic’ or ‘Dark Magic Twin Burst’ from your Deck to the Field.

So, said DMG can be Special Summoned from your Hand, Deck, or Graveyard.  This is crazy good support for the female magician.  Also, briefly, I assume we’re all familiar with Dark Magic Attack, but let’s note what the others do.  DBA destroys all face-up Monsters your opponent controls if you control DMG.  DBM destroys ALL cards your opponent controls by controlling DM and DMG, and is a Quickplay to boot.

DMTB isn’t as great or destructive, but still combos with DMG giving your DM the attack boost equal to all DMG currently on the Field and Graveyards when activated.  This card does LOTS of good, with the Special Summon (a 1-for-1 in itself) plus the free Magic card from your Deck, which is only going to help you destroy other things.  Great card that starts off as a 2-for-1 that should yield you much more.

Art:  4/5  Dark Magician is certainly teaching, and I’m choosing to interpret the light in front of DMG as what she’s learned or discovered.  The poses are good too.
