Frequently Asked Questions
(Frequently Asked Questions)

This FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is here to answer all of your most commonly asked Questions about Pojo's Message Board. If your question cannot be answered here, we ask that you post your question in the Message Board Q and A forum.

Signature information, rules, and help.

Q: How large can my image be?

A: You are allowed to have images in your signatures as long as they don't exceed 20 KB, that's roughly 20,000 bytes. You can check the size in bytes by right clicking on the image and checking the "Properties" or "Image Info." Images may not exceed that amount by too much. Some images have been 21,945 bytes, which is acceptable. Just as long as your image is roughly within that range, there should be no problem. For height and width rules, check the next question.

Q: How tall and wide can my image be?

A: Images in your signature can be as tall as the standard banner size (height=60 width=468). You may, however, use images that are acceptable.
Q: What's acceptable?
A: Images that are more than 300 pixels in height, or 500 pixels in with are not acceptable. Images such that are no taller than 70 and not wider than 470 may be exceptional. It's best to use an image where the height and width do not exceed the limits stated above in Signature Question #1

Q: How do I get scrolling text in my signatures?

A: Scrolling text in signatures is called a "Marquee." Marquees are built like the following:

  • <marquee direction="horizontal"> Text right here </marquee>
  • Please keep the text down to a small font size, and don't include images; they can be outside of the marquee.

HTML Help and Signatures

Creating Links
Many of you wish to link to certain topics, images, files, web sites, etc. within your signatures. An easy way to do this is by using the following code.
<a href="http://www.pojo.com/messageboard.html">Pojo's Board Rules</a> Between the "s inside the href="   ", put the URL of the file, web site, etc. of which you wish to linkto. ex)  href="http://www.pojo.com/messageboard.html"
The end result of the full code would be: Pojo's Board Rules

Testing Signature Topics

I'm not sure if or when Pojo will change the rules on these type-of topics. In my opinion, they are simply pointless and need to be wiped off the board. This FAQ will answer most of those common questions about signatures and anything else on the board. For anyone that wants to test their signature, do the following.

  1. Do not, and I repeat, do not start a new topic or a reply about "Signature Testing".
  2. Click on the "New Topic" link in ANY forum.
  3. Type in your subject line.
  4. Type in anything, such as a number or two.
  5. Check the Signature Checkbox
  6. Check the "Preview" checkbox. It's right next to the "Submit" button.
  7. Click on the "Submit" button.
  8. Preview the post with your custom signature. If it does not work correctly, then simply fix your signature in the "My Control Center" to your liking.
  9. If the Signature works, simply click back on your browser and return to posting topics, replies, and whatnots.

Q: How do I get that picture under my name?

A: The picture under your name is an "Avatar" or "Personal Photo." To add one, simply go to the main board page or the main page of any forum. Click on "My Control Center" and click on the button that says "edit profile." Once inside, look for the text-box titled "Personal Photo." Enter the full URL of the image. For example: http://www.mydomain.com/images/image.gif ). Then every time you post a topic, check the "Include Personal Photo" checkbox.

Q: How do I put an image in my signature?

A: To put an image in your signature, use the following code and follow these instructions.

  1. Find the image you want in your signature. One you made, or one on the web.
  2. For Internet Explorer users right click on the image. Check the "Properties" and copy the image location (URL). For Netscape users right click on the image and select "Copy Image Location." For Mac users, hold down the mouse button and select "Save Image." You'll need to upload the image to your own web site or have a friend upload it for you.
  3. Go to Pojo's message board. Click on "My Control Center" and go to "Edit Preferences."
  4. Look for the Signature Edit box. Enter the following code

    <img src"imagelocationhere">

For Example....

<img src="http://www.pojo.com/boardfaq.gif">

This makes....

Be sure you use the entire URL (http://www.pojo.com/boardfaq.gif) for the image.
Please keep images under 20KB (roughly 20,000 bytes).

Q: Where should I host my image(s)?

A: There are several places where you should host your image at. One of the best places would be www.f2s.net and www.boomspeed.com. You should save and upload your image(s) to your free web space there. Refer to this question on how to change your signature image(s). - Thanks to Fangwig for this! ;)

Certain Forum Rules

Q: What are the Poll Forum Rules?

A: The rules are simple.

  • One poll per day per person.
  • Polls that are literally pointless, go against the rules in any way, will be deleted or locked.
  • You are allowed to vote in as many polls as you wish, and reply in as many polls as you wish. Just stay on topic of that poll.

Q: What are the Fan Art Forum rules?

A: The fan art forums are divided into four different Fan Art Forums, PokemonDigimonDragon Ball, and Other. Each forum has simple rules, all of which are common.

  • Keep the images Rated: PG. Images that are any higher are deleted.
  • Images must be in the forum they are specified in. Pokemon goes into Pokemon, Digimon goes into Digimon, etc.
  • Signatures have been turned off in these forums to speed up loading times of Fan Art pictures.

Q: What are the Q and A forum rules?

The Message Board Q and A forum is there to help with any questions that cannot be helped here. Such as, questions about certain forums, the message board itself, or anything in general about Pojo.com and their services/information where the rules are not explained anywhere else. You may also want to check out the Pojo.com web sites: Pokemon, Digimon, Magic: The Gathering, Dragon Ball, and Gundam Wing for more information on the information here at Pojo.com.

Q: What are the Random Topic Center rules?

A: The Random Topic Center on Pojo's message board is the place where stuff does not fit into any other forum goes.

  • All topics must not be rated anything more than PG. This means, anything Rated R, NC-17, XXX, etc. is not permitted and will be deleted A.S.A.P.
  • Any questions about the board posted here will be moved to the Q and A.

Q: What are the General Fan-Fiction rules?

The General Fan-Fiction forum is a place to post your original stories about your favorite cartoons, T.V. shows, games, books, etc. All stories must be rated PG and under. Anything worse will be deleted.

Terms

  • SPAM means: Stupid, Pointless, Annoying Messages. This is one rule that is strictly enforced. Report any and all SPAM seen on the board moderators immediatly.
  • SPAC is a new word that I made up. It stands for: Stupid, Pointless, and Childish. What qualifies as SPAC? Simply put, anything that is related to making fun of someone, a group of people, trying to cause heated debates (flame wars), and intentionally posting topics that will be deleted.

Board Information

Topic Restrictions

The following topics are usually not allowed due to that they can cause "flame wars," are basically spam, are illegal, and various other reasons.

  • Topics about Religion
  • Topics about Roms, Emulators, and Pirated Software.
  • Topics about one certain Member or Members - report members to mods, and mods to the Q and A.
  • Topics about Testing Signatures
  • Topics about Spam - talking about how it is done, where it's been done, etc.
  • Topics about only getting a higher post count.

On Another Note: Never ask to be a moderator. If we need one, and feel you fit the position, then we will contact you. Asking to be a mod. lowers your chances greatly of becoming one. So, be patient; follow the rules, and don't SPAM! *Report Members to Mods, and Mods to the Q and A.*
