Hello Pojo Fans,

Beetrooper Week begins as October starts up on Pojo and we start off with Beetrooper Scout Buggy.

Weak stats for a Level 3 Insect. Scout Buggy locks you into Special Summoning Insects only, which likely will not be a problem, and even if it were you could always link it away. Special Summon another copy of itself from anywhere but banished and this happens however you summon it, making it a one-card Rank 3 or Link 2. Beetrooper Formation gives all the Beetrooper monsters a way of bringing themselves back each turn for only the cost of their ATK (low ATK is a bonus here) and off of that one activation you’d be able to use Scout Buggy for a Rank 3 or Link 2. Scout Buggy has great synergy with tomorrow’s card: Beetrooper Sting Lancer, enabling an easier Special Summon for Lancer. Any time you can use one monster to get an Extra Deck summon or facilitate other cards because it can Special Summon another copy of itself instantly it is a good card. If searched off something like Giant Rat you’d get two monsters to protect on your opponents turn. The only downside is limiting Scout Buggy to “once per turn”. If it hadn’t been, you’d have a Link 3 on your hands and for Insects that wouldn’t have been a bad thing. On the other hand, with the Link monster of the archetype coming up on Friday it would make it a little too easy to Link Summon.

Great archetype monster and Insect overall that you want as quick as possible.

Been a bit since we went over a TCG Exclusive archetype. Couldn’t fit Myutants in and I really rather forget War Rocks exist, so we’ll return to the TCG archetype reviews with Beetroopers and one of their few monsters so far: Beetrooper Scout Buggy.

Scout Buggy is a Level 3 WIND Insect with 1000 ATK and 300 DEF. So not really working with the best traits for a monster. Stats are low, Attribute is bad, and the last good Insect archetype was back in 2012. You’re locked to Insects while you control this, which is unfourtunate, but there’s still decent Insect monsters and I’m sure Konami is focused on making the type better. Anyways, Normal/Special Summon lets you summon another Scout Buggy from the hand, Deck, or graveyard. Basically it ensures you get a 2nd copy on board, which works well for an archetype that wants to Link Summon. It’s basically an instant Link-2, which you got options like Beetrooper Armor Horn or Inzektor Picofalena. You could make a Rank 3 as well, but you’ll be locked to Number 20: Giga-Brilliant (likely for the Digital Bug Rank 5) or Number 3: Cicada King for your best options. Hard once per turn, which is fair for a Tour Guide that triggers on Special Summon. Scout Buggy does help make your bigger Insect plays, just the problem is you’re locked to Insects. I understand it for balancing purposes, and again you can do decent things with Insects now, just imagine if you weren’t type-locked on most the archetype.

Beetroopers have descended upon us, and appropriately, they sent us a Scout first.  Scout Buggy is a Wind/Insect, Level 3, with 1000 atk and 300 def.  Nothing to really look down on there.  So this guy is more or less an Insect version of Tour Guide.  A Normal or Special Summon nets you another one of these (free +1 is always good) and it can come from ANYWHERE (Hand/Deck/Grave) which is pretty awesome.  You’re locked into only Special Summoning Insects, and this IS NOT limited to the Extra Deck…only Insects, period.  But if you get this off the Field right away, you do all ready have two Level 3 Monsters on the Field via the Effect (once per Turn) so you can Extra Deck right away.  Or Tribute, as may be the case (Insect Queen and the like).  A decent enough card to open the week.  The free Monster is the best part, and the Insect only SS clause (I made a funny) seems like it won’t hurt you…until it HURTS you.

Rating:  2.75/5

Art:  4/5  The sky and surrounding picture seem much cooler than the Scout itself, but it’s all pretty.
