Next up for Arc-V throwbacks we take a look at how the Xyz Dimension was raided by the Obelisk Force and all their Ancient Gears with Battle Royal Mode – Joining.

Battle Royal Mode – Joining is a Continuous Spell that can be activated by targeting an Effect Monster on the field and the first two times that monster would be destroyed in battle each turn, it isn’t. Okay battle protection to give to your monsters, though it could of probably just said the monster outright couldn’t be destroyed in battle and in most cases we’d be fine, but then the rest of the card wouldn’t work, cause when that monster is destroyed in battle, the player that destroyed it gains 2000 LP. I mean, you don’t really want to give your opponent either more LP for no reason or instead target their monster to make it harder to destroy just so you can gain some LP. The final effect triggers when the turn player’s opponent takes battle or effect damage, letting that opponent have the option to summon a Level 4 or lower monster from their hand or Deck, but then they lose 2000 LP. It’d be fine if it just applied to you, but giving your opponent any opportunity to summon almost whatever they want from their Deck is always going to be really bad. Maybe your best hope here is to drain the opponent of their LP, or play this when the opponent doesn’t have 2000 LP to lose so only you could maybe summon monsters from the Deck, but even then it still relies mostly on the opponent dealing damage to you. The card is really bad, to be honest, to a point where I can’t think of a singular purpose for it.

Advanced Rating: 1/5

Art: 5/5 So of course we see the Obelisk Force destroying the Xyz Dimension basically with Chaos Ancient Gear Giant in the background. The second effect is at least a cool reference to how Duelists could interfere in an ongoing Duel by losing 2000 LP at the start.
