Hello Pojo Fans,

Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 does not match up with the original in terms of power, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t effective.

Same first effect(s) as the previous two levels LV3 and LV5, and send it and a monster in the hand to the grave for LV10. If you send ADT LV7 to use a Dragon’s effect it searches you any Armed Dragon card from the deck. This search ability is on LV5 but for the higher level WIND monsters you’ll run in the deck, it omits the archetype-specific Spell and Trap cards you are likely running, and searching them as well is a necessity. The original LV7 made sure you got your payoff: one monster discard for a board wipoe of opponent’s monsters. Sure, had to be higher ATK than the monsters on the field, but it was a potential game-ending effect with LV7 having 2800ATK. This card is faster to LV10 than the original, summoning it from the hand or deck off its own effect, costing you a monster in your hand, but you could use the original LV7 in place and send ADT LV5 to the grave with LV7 to search LV10 and summon it that way. Sure, you need an extra specific card, but you get a 2400ATK and below board wipe of opponents monsters. I still would value speed just a little bit more than raw power in this case, because the original LV7 ain’t getting you to LV10 first turn, nor are any of the originals for that matter.

Lacking in its predecessors power, Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 does continue the theme of speed and not having to depend on your opponents to get to the higher levels of the archetype.

From LV5 we reach the version of Armed Dragon that gets the most retrains, considering Pile Armed Dragon and Dark Armed Dragon are both based off LV7 rather than LV10, but anyways here we are at Armed Dragon Thunder LV7.

Thunder LV7 is a Level 7 WIND Dragon with 2800 ATK and 1000 DEF. Weird DEF loss going from 5 to 7, but 2800 ATK is pretty good. As we know, this card’s name becomes Armed Dragon LV7 on field or in grave. Relevance here outside Armed Dragon Blitz is that you can send this from field to grave to properly summon Armed Dragon LV10 or this can be Fusion Material for Armed Dragon Catapult Cannon if you want to go down that route, even though the VWXYZ line is in desperate need for a retrain as well. Anyways we get to the hard once per turns. First effect lets you send a monster from hand to grave to then send this from field to grave and summon a Level 10 or lower Armed Dragon from hand or Deck. Can’t summon the original Armed Dragon LV10 or Armed Dragon LV10 White though, cause they have to be summoned off their own effects, so the obvious call is Armed Dragon Thunder LV10, which is the best card to probably summon off this anyways. The effect if sent to grave for a Dragon monster’s effect this time lets you search any Armed Dragon card. We lose the versatility for outside the archetype, but we can now get Spells and Traps. You got Blitz to get you a second big Armed Dragon on field, Armed Dragon Flash to help begin the combo again, Armed Dragon Lightning to boost the ATK of your Armed Dragons or recover resources, or finally Armed Dragon Thunderbolt to be a big ATK increase and Spell/Trap recovery option. You can still get monsters if you want, this one can search Thunder LV3 unlike Thunder LV5 limiting you to Level 5+, but that’d only be good if you didn’t use Thunder LV3’s cost effect yet. Anyways, Thunder LV7 does make the entire Armed Dragon archetype accessible while you’re going down the Armed Dragon line and it’s the card to get you to the final boss. The best card in the line of leveling up, now we get to the endgame itself.

Advanced Rating: 4.25/5

Art: 4.5/5 LV7 doesn’t have any of the LV3 qualities anymore, it’s just a sick and menacing dragon.

I’m sure the rest of this week by now should be apparent, but midweek brings us ADT Level 7.  2800 attack for Level 7 is great, even if 1000 defense isn’t.  Same effect as yesterday to discard a Monster to switch this guy out for another in the family.  Level 10 I’m assuming.  The second effect here lets you fetch an Armed Dragon CARD (not Monster specifically but card) if sent to the Grave for the effect of a Dragon Monster, so this includes Magic/Trap cards.  Which is nifty.  It’s not much but it’s something.  It’s fast but not as powerful as its non Thunder counterpart.

Art:  See now I LOVE the background and the attack pose, as well as the blast, but I just don’t care much for the Monster.  4.25/5
