Hello Pojo Fans,

Allure of Darkness is our Throwback Thursday choice and needs no more introduction after that.

One of the best cards in the game ever since being released in a set that changed the game again (Phantom Darkness), AoD is simple to play and effective. Draw two, banish a DARK monster in your hand. If you don’t have that DARK already in your hand you can play AoD and risk it for the biscuit, but if you can banish you lose your hand. Some decks love that clause in Allure’s effect, but most players will get a DARK and then use Allure to get them more advantage. This card SHOULD be played in all DARK archetypes or decks that run a good amount of DARK monsters.

Not much else to say about Allure: Gets you advantage, thins your deck, banish effect can be worked around or used to gain more advantage, even the downside can be used as a way to gain advantage.

Advanced-4.5/5- Can’t give it a 5/5 because you need to banish and it’s for DARK monsters only, but for sure 5/5 for DARK.

We going way back to a card released all the way back in 2008 in one of the greatest sets of all time, Phantom Darkness, and looking at possibly one of the greatest cards TCG Konami has ever produced, Allure of Darkness.

Allure is a Normal Spell that lets you draw 2 cards, then banish a DARK monster from your hand. If you cannot banish a monster with this effect, you must send your entire hand to the graveyard. Basically, you are not going to activate this unless you already got a DARK monster in hand or you know you’ll draw one. Either way, it’s a pretty good card just to boost consistency in any DARK strategy. Draw 2 effects are very good, and this is a fairly easy draw 2 for any Deck to access, just as long as they use a fair number of DARK monsters. You can also benefit from the monster being banished with cards that can resummon your banished monsters or effects of monsters that trigger when they’re banished. Allure of Darkness is still one of the best draw Spells in the game, and the other Attributes do wish they could have a card like this.

Advanced Rating: 5/5

Art: 3.5/5 Take your cards, but a great sacrifice must be made.

Another decade plus old card for Throwback Thursday, and a great one, in the Magic card Allure of Darkness.  Looks like we’ve done this 5 times (most recently in 2016) as early as 2008.  Was #3 in top cards of 08 (receiving a 5 at the time) again in 09, and twice a few months apart in 2016.  Currently unlimited to the TCG, while Semi-Limited in the OCG, simply put, as a general rule, regardless how good or bad a card may be, any card with the word ‘Draw’ in its text is going to looked at.  This being a card that lets you Draw 2 cards, is one that got more attention.  (The more cards you can Draw, the more attention a card will get, again, regardless of if the card is actually good or bad).  This card only gets better after the Drawing, as removing a Dark Monster from play IS good in countless Decks with various plays…not to mention the ease in returning Monsters removed these days (especially as opposed to then) and the rare time it will hit where you didn’t Draw/have all ready a Dark in your Hand and have to Discard your cards to the Grave, that’s fine too.  As long as you’re prepared for it, and you can make that sting less.  This card isn’t perfect, and I can’t recall the last time I did this, but if you’re playing Dark, you should run at least 2 of these, maybe even all 3.

Rating:  5/5 for Dark

Art:  5/5  Simple, but elegant, I always enjoyed this picture.

Throwback Thursday brings us Allure of Darkness, a classic that might reawaken nightmares for some people. It’s a normal spell that allows you to draw 2 cards at the cost of banishing a DARK monster from your hand afterwards, though if you don’t have any DARK monsters you’ll have to dump your entire hand. You will almost certainly only use this if you actually have a DARK monster to part with, but if you don’t, you deserve to have your hand dumped. Pretty much every majority DARK deck can use this well for the extra draw power. Raidraptor, Blackwing, Danger!, and Orcust are primarily DARK decks that come to mind; Thunder Dragon can also use this card since they get mileage out of their DARK monsters being banished. While not as terrifying as it was in the past, with TeleDAD and Dark Warriors and whatnot, Allure of Darkness is still a solid draw card for the decks that can use it.

Art: 4/5 I don’t know why I find a deck floating in a dark void to be hilarious
