Hello Pojo Fans,

We weren’t going to finish the week without an Albaz card, especially with two cards pertaining to the archetypes it is involved in. Lets look at Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon.

Requires Albaz and a Dragon monster, easy to come by, you could even use two copies of Albaz for this, however you are likely using another one of your Albaz Fusion monsters to get this new Fusion Monster to the field so you can trigger the previous ones grave effect. On the other hand, Alba-Lenatus cannot be used like that, so you won’t be able to keep climbing to different Fusion Monsters with it. You don’t even need a fusion card for Alba-Lenatus, just the mentioned Fusion Materials, one less card used can make the difference in a game. The more materials you use for Alba-Lenatus the more you get to attack during the Battle Phase. At 2500/2500 it can hold its own and do some good damage, nothing to scoff at when it comes to multiple attacks, especially if your opponent is left with some smaller monsters. At the least you’ll get two attacks with this monster each Battle Phase. I’m not sure why you’d throw more into it unless you were able to spam-rush the field with Dragon monsters and then drop Albaz for the summon. If it gained an ATK boost for each monster used then maybe.

Adding back a Poly or “Fusion” card when it is in the grave the turn it was sent there is ironic, since you can summon this without a fusion card, but we’ll always take getting something back when you lose something.

Alba-Lenatus is…odd. Doesn’t need a Poly or Fusion card to summon itself, but adds back a Poly or Fusion card when it is in the grave, and, it can’t be used as Fusion Material despite being so easy to Fusion Summon. Of the Albaz Fusion Monsters you can summon it is an easier one, requiring less setup, but it does add back a card that lets you Fusion Summon, and in this archetype that happens a lot. As for splashing it in somewhere else…you’d have to run a couple of Dragon-Type monsters or have access to them reliably, as well as run Albaz, so I think Alba-Lenatus is staying put in the archetype.

Art-4/5- These artworks do not disappoint. Can’t wait to see the end of this story, I have my hopes for how it turns out.

The week ends off with a card similar to yesterday, only for a different Type: Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon.

Abyss Dragon is a Level 8 DARK Dragon Fusion witht 2500 ATK and DEF. Good stats overall and a great combo of DARK Dragon. Fusion Materials are Fallen of Albaz and 1+ Dragon, so an Albaz can really break a board of Dragons. It cannot be used as Fusion Material and must be either Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned by sending the above materials from either player’s control to the graveyard, so you can just set a Fallen of Albaz and fuse the board of Dragons away without the effect to take out the risk of a Trap on the summon of the Albaz. It can attack monsters a number of times each Battle Phase up to the number of materials used, so you can probably get a decent number from this. Finally you get a soft once per turn in the End Phase of the turn this is sent to the graveyard, searching for any Polymerization or Fusion Normal Spell, so a good way to get more Fusion Spells, but locked to Normal Spells, so nothing like Super Poly. Still, it’s a fine card to break a full board of Dragons. The Dragon typing might be more prominent than Machine, so this might be seen more often than Fortress. Solid card.

Art: 4.5/5 Really nice looking Dragon, like the pure red-orange like color.

More Monster Fusion to end the week, Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon (who got to name this card) is a Dark/Dragon (beautiful) Level 8 Monster with 2500 atk (and def).  Fusion requirements are Fallen of Albaz specifically as well as 1+ generic Dragons.  Also can’t be used as Fusion Material (see comments yesterday on this) and MUST be Fusion or Special Summoned by sending the cards mentioned from any Monster Zones to the respective Grave(s).  Gains a number of total attacks equal to the number of Material used for Fusion…the 2500 atk looks better when you’re looking at multiple attacks.  No restriction as to whether they have to be in succession (they don’t) and they can be direct attacks, so that’s pretty awesome.  If in your Grave, sent there that Turn, and at Once per Turn (follow that?) and only during the End Phase, you can add a Normal Poly or Fusion Magic card from your Deck to your Hand.  Free 1-for-1 there, assuming you don’t miss timing or anything, that wording is convoluted as hell, (I can only wonder why worded so clunkily) but in an Archtype that loves to Fuse and has plenty of cards fitting that bill, I see that as a good thing too.  Invest heavily if you can push for a win in a Turn or two, or just use the two Material and go with an extra attack each Turn.

The week finishes with yet ANOTHER Albaz Fusion (will they ever stop? Not until Maximus is six feet under in the story), this one being Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon. Alba-Lenatus is a level 8 DARK Dragon Fusion monster, not atypical of an Albaz Fusion. It simply requires Fallen of Albaz and one or more Dragon type monsters, which isn’t hard, but it’ll really come in handy later on. Predictably, it has 2500 attack and defense, boasting decent but not particularly high stats for a level 8 Fusion monster.

Alba-Lenatus itself can’t be used as Fusion material, so no point in trying to Fusion climb with it. Alba-Lenatus must be Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned with its own condition, sending the Fusion materials from either side of the field to the Graveyard (see? This is why we had Chimeratech Fortress Dragon for Throwback Thursday!). The obvious application for this is essentially a mass Kaiju against Dragon-based decks, especially Dragon Link; ironically, you won’t be using Alba-Lenatus much against other Branded Despia decks, as they rarely keep Lubellion the Searing Dragon and Albion the Stigmata Dragon on the field anyway. Beyond this, Alba-Lenatus gains additional attacks for each monster used for its Fusion Summon, so by default it’ll have 2 attacks from Albaz and whatever Dragon, plus one for each additional Dragon, making it a decent choice for clearing the board or pushing for the OTK. Alba-Lenatus’s last effect is a soft once per turn, letting you search a Polymerization Normal Spell or Fusion Normal Spell during the End Phase. This effect isn’t entirely useless, but as an End Phase effect, it’s definitely not something you’d go out of your way to get; it’s just a bonus if you happen to summon Alba-Lenatus and let it die, since you’d rather dump Albion to fetch Branded in Red if you got the chance. Still, if, say, you were using Mirrorjade’s banish effect on your opponent’s turn, you can dump Alba-Lenatus to search Branded Fusion for follow-up. While rather niche, it’s definitely a card to keep in mind for Dragon-heavy metas, so again, no harm in running one unless your Extra Deck space is really tight.

Advanced: 3.75/5

Art: 4/5 Not sure what’s up with his mouth, but it’s about what I’d expect from a fusion of Albaz and Aluber. Also, he’s very red, dare I say, Branded in Red.
