Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon – #MAZE-EN019

1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 2 or lower Tuner from your GY. During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 “Stardust Dragon” from your Extra Deck (this is treated as a Synchro Summon), then, immediately after this effect resolves, Synchro Summon using monsters you control as material. For the rest of this turn, the monsters Synchro Summoned by this effect are unaffected by your opponent’s activated effects. You can only use each effect of “Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon” once per turn.

Next up for 5D’s throwbacks is a brand new version of Stardust Dragon, Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon.

Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon is a Level 8 WIND Dragon Synchro with 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF. Literally the same as Stardust Dragon, which is perfectly fine. Materials are any Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), so completely generic as well. The first effect triggers upon being Synchro Summoned, letting you revive any Level 2 or lower Tuner directly from your graveyard. It’s a good revival effect, helping you extend out your Synchro plays to go into bigger Synchros. This plus said Level 2 Tuner is a Baronne de Fleur, which is pretty good all things considered. The second effect is a Quick Effect during the Main Phase, letting you tribute this card in order to summon a Stardust Dragon directly from your Extra Deck (this is treated as a Synchro Summon) and then immediately you Synchro Summon using monsters you control as material (note you don’t have to use the Stardust Dragon you summon) with monsters Synchro Summoned off this effect being unaffected by the opponent’s activated effects for the rest of the turn. It’s a nice, quick way to perform a Synchro Summon during either turn while also providing extra protection to your Synchro Monsters. You should also be able to get said protection on the Stardust Dragon you summon for free if you end up keeping it, which is also really solid. You can only use each effect a turn, which is standard. Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon is probably the best new card from Maze of Memories for its ability to revive a Tuner and having the option to perform a Synchro Summon and get a Stardust Dragon while providing the summoned monsters with some good protection. Any Synchro-heavy strategy is likely to run this, assuming they use Level 2 or lower Tuners.

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 5/5 So this is just Stardust Dragon right before Yusei would use it to Accel Synchro Summon his Shooting Star Dragon. You can even see Yusei on his Duel Runner if you look closely enough. The effect to revive a Level 2 or lower Tuner is clearly meant to revive Formula Synchron and the second effect is meant to help you summon Shooting Star Dragon, but thankfully they made both effects generic enough to have uses beyond that that are more viable.
