On a rainy day spent with my friend inside, we came up with these Pokemon
TCG variations, to add a very high degree of fun to the game. Try them
yourself and see!

    Variation 1: Shopping Mall
Make your deck have no trainers, and contain 80 cards. Take out all trainers
from your entire Pokemon collection, and set them in a pile to your right.
Make sure you don't mix them with your friend's cards! Play the game
normally, but with this change. At any time during your turn, you may discard
the proper amount of cards in order to "buy" a trainer. Every common trainer
"costs" 2 cards; the uncommons cost 3 and rares go for 4. This makes for
awesome combos!

    Variation 2: Pokemon Journey
This variation takes after the actual video game and does not require a
specialized deck. You must have 4 people for this. Choose 2 of you to be the
wild Pokemon. The other 2 are trainers. The wild Pokemon people choose
Pokemon at random (it doesn't matter whether they are basic or not). The
trainers choose as their battle card Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, or
Pikachu. The trainers must use their chosen Pokemon to battle and "capture"
the wild ones, using an unlimited supply of energy, and NO TRAINERS. CAPTURE
RULES: To capture, you must get the attacker to 10, 20, or 30 HP first. If
the wild is at 30, flip 2 coins. They both must be heads to capture. At 20,
flip 1 coin, heads being the win. And 10, flip 2 and just 1 has to be heads
to capture. If caught, you take that Pokemon as yours (not for keeps though).
If any of your Pokemon are able to evolve, they do so after 2 battles to the
next stage.
Go through 12 of these encounters, and then have the 2 trainers go head to
head with 6 of their captured Pokemon.

    Variation 3: Total Chaos
In this variation, use your regular deck. The only difference is the ability
to capture your opponents Pokemon, just like in Pokemon Journey above. You
can capture bench or active, following the Journey capturing rules. Once
captured, they are healed to full, and all energy is removed and discarded
into your opponents discard pile. When attaching energy to these Pokemon, it
works just like the part in Ditto's Pokemon Power concerning energy. For
those who don't know this, it is "You may treat any energy attached to [the
captured Pokemon's name] as energy of any type".

Try these variations if you are bored with the normal way, they make for very
fun and exciting battles!
