Hi, I'm Starmie3001 (S3k1) and I thought of a combo that might make
Charizard a little more useful.
As most people proably know, the fire breathing lizard has three fears.
The occasional Blastoise/Strong water pokemon. Having to Fire Spin and then
discard two energy just to Knock Out a puny 40hp Squirtle. The last one, and
the one that is the main point of this article is *enter BUM BUM BUM music*
Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal. Picture this:
You finally make your Charizard complete by getting four energy on it and
your opponent Super Energy Removals you, then because you don't have enough
energy to attack, your opponent Hydro Pumps you and Knocks Out your
Charizard, making him/her win.
Well, now that the gym sets are out you have a stadium card to play, No
Removal Gym!! This makes Charizard slightly more playable, since they can't
play a Super Energy Removal without discarding two cards from their hand.
Now here's the real strategy: You stall with Fossil
Magmar/Chansey/Kangaskan.  While they stall you attach energy like you've
never attached energy before. Then when Charizard has lots of energy on him,
you scoop up your active (or retreat if it doesn't have a lot of damage),
send out Charizard then Fire Spin to get all of your prizes. Another idea is
to use Rocket Charmander's Gather Fire to get all the in play fire energy on
Charmander, then breed him to Charizard at full power!!
Well, here's a deck that might help out, although it will probably have to be
tweaked and worked with for STS:
