It is true that Ecolo Gym will HELP Fire decks, but it will not be ultimate.
Read the card carefully:

"by an OPPONENT'S attack, Pokémon Power, or Trainer card".

Meaning that discarding from your own attacks or trainer cards will yield no
effect. It has to be something the opponent does to you.

This is yet another example of misunderstandings caused by people who simply
do not take the time to read what the card says. Please people... I know it's
boring and you don't want to, but READ THE CARDS YOU'RE LOOKING AT BEFORE
SENDING A REPORT. It helps all of us, including yourself by making you seem
halfway intelligent
