Well, the time has come. Prop15 has indeed fallen upon the East Coast STS.
However, the people that have been griping about how "Archtypes are
unoriginal" and that "Prop15 MUST be passed" may be in for a rude awakening.
For, you see, WotC has added an annoying little snare along with Prop15.
Ladies and gents, meet "Prop15-3C"!!
What Is It?
What is Prop15-3C, you ask? Simple-It means this:
-15 Trainers per deck
-No more thsan 3 of each Trainer, Basic/Stage 1/Stage 2 Pokemon, or
Non-Basic Energy.
Why Am I Supposed To Care??
Oh, I'm sure you'll care...why? Because this new style of play has a good
possiblity of becoming a tourney format. Great, huh? *sigh*
Why Are You Telling Us This?
Well, I've notcied quite a few Pro-Prop15ers on Pojo griping about how
boring the game is and how unorioginal some people are. But even they didn't
realize that Prop15 may mess up their decks as well. All they wanted was for
those "evil" Hays and "unoriginal" Wigglies to be weakened enough to be
beaten continuously(which, I might add, is impossible; no deck can lose all
the time). Well, I bet they are not very happy right now.
Because, although WotC did a fine job of restricting Stage 1s and 2s(and
this HURTS Hays??), and although they did weaken them a bit by restricting
Trainers, they failed to notice that the other decks all used
evolutions...which WotC restricted.
What does this mean? Easy. It means that a deck like, oh...this:
Pokemon(18)
3 Electabuzz
3 Scyther
3 Ditto
3 Rocket's Zapdos
3 Mewtwo
3 Sabrina's Gastly lv. 10
Trainers(15)
3 Professor Oak
2 Misty's Wrath
3 Remove Probhition(sp?) Gym
3 Computer Search
3 Gust of Wind
1 Itemfinder
Energy(27)
11 Psychic Energy
10 Lightning Energy
3 DCE
3 Grass Energy
...Will still have an advantage over a deck like this:
Pokemon(21)
3 Bulbasaur
3 Ivysaur
3 Venusaur
3 Scyther
3 Rocket's Scyther
3 Oddish(tr)
3 Chansey
Trainers(15)
3 Professor Oak
3 Computer Search
3 Pokemon Breeder
3 Gust of Wind
1 Itemfinder
2 Pokemon Trader
Energy(24)
21 Grass Energy
3 DCE

And do you know why? SPEED.
Some say speed won't be important in this new enviorment. That's a false
statement. It won't be NEEDED, but it will win games. Think about it. If can
get rolling before your opponent can, you win. Easy as that.
In conclusion, I don't see how anyone can be happy about this new turn of
events. In short, I'll ask one question to all that wished for this to
happen: Happy Now?
