Please post this in the Single Card Strategy Section.
Okay, this is my first article to the pojo. Recently,
I've seen articles on charizard and that
fire is a bad type to use. Now, I don't use a
charizard(and I'm not planning to), but there are
really good and quick fire pokémon..... for instance:

Magmar(fossil)
Basic Pokémon
Type: Fire
Spitfire Pokémon
70 HP
Weakness: Water
Resistance: None
Retreat Cost: 1
ATTACK: R - Smokescreen(10): If the defending Pokémon
tries to attack during your oppents next
turn, your oppent flips a coin. If tails, that attack
does nothing.

RR - Smog(20): Flip a coin. If heads, the defending
pokémon is now paralyzed.

Pokedex: Found at the mouths of volcanoes and
extremely hard to spot. There are very few instances
of capturing this Pokémon. LV. 31 #126.

Card: 39/62 UNCOMMON

The Pokédex entry isn't really important, just
probably there to add some collector's value. If
you just look at this card and don't pay attention to
its print, you might think this card
sucks. But just look at it carefully, you'll see its
like a fire type electabuzz. 70 HP is a
good HP for basic pokémon (Hitmonchan, Scyther,
Electabuzz, Jynx, etc...). Its first attack
is similar to electabuzz, both does 10 damage,
requires 1 energy and has the ablility to
prevent the oppent from damaging you the next turn.
Although paralyze is harder to get out of,
if magmar is lets say... against a charizard or a
Zapdos or any pokémon who has to discard
energies when they attack. If a Zapdos uses
thunderbolt for some reason, it'll have to discard
all its energies first, then flip a coin to see if
they can attack. IF tails, then they discarded
those energies for nothing.... hahahahaha. But you'll
get killed if its heads. Electabuzz
and magmar's second attacks are similar too. Both has
2 energy requirements(electabuzz's
requirements are a bit better) and the ablility to do
40 damage if heads, and do less if tails
(magmar does 20 and electabuzz does 30 and 10 to
self). You can easily understand that electabuzz
can do 40 damage, but how can magmar do 40? If you
flip a heads, the defending pokémon will be
poisoned! That means that they will have to take 10
damage after each person's turn. So its 10
more damage(30 now) after you used smog and flipped
heads. If they don't retreat or anything,
then its you're turn again, and they do 10 more damage
and end up with 40 damage... and its
you're turn again! But magmar's retreat cost is better
than electabuzz. By the way, heres
electabuzz's stats...

Electabuzz
Basic Pokémon
Type: Lighting
Electric Pokémon
70 HP
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: 2
ATTACK: L - Thundershock(10): Flip a coin. If heads,
the defending pokémon is now paralyzed.

1L - Thunder Punch(30+): Flip a coin. If heads, this
attack does 40 damage, if tails, this attack
does 30 damage and electabuzz does 10 damage to it
self.

Pokédex: Normally found near power plants, they can
wander away and cause majof blackouts in
cities. LV. 35 #125

Card: 20/102 RARE

Thats not all the good fires, for example:

Magmar(Base Set)
Basic Pokémon
Type: Fire
Spitfire Pokémon
50 HP
Weakness: Water
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: 2
ATTACK: RR - Fire Punch(30)

1RR - Flamethrower(50): Discard a R energy card
attached to Magmar in order to use this attack.

Pokédex: Its body always burns with a orange glow that
enables it to hide perfectly among flames.
LV.24 #126

Card: 36/102 UNCOMMON

Wow, another magmar? Although the fossil Magmar is
better, this magmar is still a good pokémon.
Unlike the other magmar, this one requires more energy
and is more of a pokémon to build on the
bench. Its basically a beefed up ponyta. Fire Punch is
a awesome attack for 2 energies(its not
the best, but its still a good attack). Flamethrower
is okay. Use flamethrower only in needed
situations(venusaur, beedrill, etc).

Lets see what else? Oh yeah, here are some fire
pokémon to consider putting in!

Ninetales
Stage 1 Pokémon
Type: Fire
Fox Pokémon
80 HP
Weakness: Water
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: 1
ATTACK: 2 - Lure(): If you're oppent has any benched
pokémon, choose one and switch it with they're
active pokémon.

RRRR - Fire Blast(80): Discard 1 R energy card
attached to ninetales in order to use this attack.

Pokédex: Very smart and very vengeful. Grabbing one of
its many tails could result in a 1000-year
curse. LV. 32 #38

Card: 12/102 HOLO-RARE

and...

Arcanine
Stage 1 Pokémon
Type: Fire
Legendary Pokémon
100 HP
Weakness: Water
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: 3
ATTACK: 1RR - Flamethrower(50): Discard 1 R Energy
card attached to arcanine in order to use this
attack.

2RR - Take Down(80): Arcanine does 30 damage to it
self.

Pokédex: A Pokémon that has been long admired for its
beauty. It runs gracefully as if on wings.
LV.45 #59

Card: 23/102 UNCOMMON

Well, those 2 pokémon are okay... that all the time I
have, remember these are just my opinions,
so if you hate fire pokémon... that all up to you.
