Hey all. Though I have only played a little while, I
have built many decks and studied the strategy alot,
especially at The Pojo. I hope you will post this, it
will be very helpfull.

These are the steps to build a good deck. My oppinions
on a good deck are at the bottom.

(1) First, find what types you are going to use and
figure out how to combine their powers to make a good
strategy. For example, in the preconstructed "ZAP!"
deck, they use electric and psychic Pokemon because of
their disabling moves.

(2) Find out which Pokemon of either of those types
you are going to use in your deck. For example, would
you like strong Pokemon that use lots of energy or
weaker Pokemon that can preserve their energies until
needed?

(3) Find out how much energy you will have for the
types you are using. But remember to use strategy with
this, to little energy will make even Charizard
useless and to much will mean less room for your
Pokemon.

(4) Figure out which Trainer cards work the best with
your deck.  For example, if your goal in the deck is
to attack and evovle, you might want a Breeder or
maybe a Bill, Prof. Oak, or a Computer Search so you
can get to those evoloutions faster.

(5) Battle-test your deck against all different
oppenents, type, and Pokemon. This will help you
figure out how to make a good deck better.

(6) Collect and trade more cards to expand your deck.
This really only applies to people with limited
resources who cannot produce better, more efficent
cards for their deck. Actually, (if you were smart)
you should have done this before you even started
reading this!

Basicly, use common sense. Making up a deck,
sacrificing energy for your big bad Charizard(s),
using random trainers, etc. is dumb. Don't be a loser
and throw in a bunch of random good cards thinking you
can beat anyone, because five bucks says that somebody
has a much better deck than you'll ever have!

If you want my oppinion, I would make a
fire/grass/water deck. Here's why:

The Water Pokemon can evovle into much better Pokemon,
if you have the patience.

The Grass Pokemon can disable, evolve, then attack
which make them a valueble ally.

Fire Pokemon attack and can do seroius damage, giving
you the time you need to evolve your Pokemon.

Sequence: 1. Use Grass to disable, evovle, attack.
          2. Use your evolved Water Pokemon to hit
them hard.
          3. Use your Fire Pokemon to finish them off.

Good Luck! I hope you learned something from this!

                                  -Chris
