Hi Pojo! This article is about the early stage of a Pokemon game. First, I'll explain what the stages are. There is early, mid, and late.
The early game is the most important part of the game, in my opinion. The early game is where you start off, and try to get off on the right foot. If you don't, it's much harder to get the game back in the mid-stage, and almost impossible in the late stage.
Here is an example: You have a hand of:
1 Jungle Pikachu
1 Electabuzz
3 Electric
1 Prof. Oak
1 Energy Removal

Okay. You play the Pikachu active, and the Electabuzz on the bench. You give the Pikachu an energy. Turn 2: You give the Pikachu another energy, energy removal the opponent's active, and do Spark. Turn 3: Electabuzz is active 'cause Pika's dead. Give Electabuzz an energy and Oak.
This is a BAD early game. You don't want to put out a Pokemon that takes too much energy and has too little HP on the first turn. This guy may have already lost, because he's lost his footing in the first two turns. Energy Removal should be saved until you have AT LEAST TWO. Although the person may not have done the smartest thing, he may have a chance by Oaking.
The bottom line is: DON'T DO POORLY ON THE FIRST FEW TURNS. If your opponent gets any prizes, then he almost automatically gains the upper-hand. Always remember to hit 'em with all you have in the beginning, but be conservative with many of the Trainers in the Early Game. I believe this is the best way to give yourself the upper-hand when playing.
