Rainy Rants On: Once again, another ridiculously long rant from that annoying furry blue critter everyone loves to bash!!

People bash all sorts of things in the Rants area. I've seen rants on collectors, rants on idiot kids, rants on Archetypes and why they should or should not be banned. I've seen rants on manners, sportsmanship, judges who don't know what they're doing, and even rants on rants that didn't make sense!

I guess my point is that these rants are getting kind of repetative. By now, practically everyone has seen at least one rant on every topic, at PoJo or elsewhere. These rants are making some people look bad.

I play an "original" deck every week, I'm used to losing (what comes of having no Blastoise, Electabuzz, Scyther, and nearly no Movie Mewtwo). I learn from my losses and sometimes a random deck does surprisingly well. (as in I actually win! *winkies*)

After I lose a few times I figure what my deck needs, make a mental note of it, then put it away to do trading. There are some decks I'm still trying to build but for a few cards I need.

I always run into the usual problems. People who won't trade their singles (I'm somewhat leery of that myself when it's a favorite card of mine that they want), people whose parents have to check their trades in advance (Understandable, they don't want their kids to get cheated), and kids who don't understand the difference between uncommon and non-holo rare. Then there's the kids with the beat-up cards, the kids who don't have anything that I'd remotely be interested in getting but they still want something from me (I try to decline as politely as possible, sometimes it's hard) and the adults who don't know what they're doing but are still nice about their ignorance.

But my biggest problem is when I walk up to a person, ask if they have a specific card to trade "Excuse me, do you have a Breeder you could trade? I've got a non-holo Rocket Sneak Attack, though I might trade a Pidgeotto or Rainbow Energy instead." He doesn't want any of them. He wants to look through my folder. I shrug, say "okay," but before I hand him my folder, I tell him that I'm not going to trade cards in the first two pages, they're my collection of favorites. This guy freezes. He doesn't even look at me but says "I don't trade with collectors" and walks away.

Doesn't everyone have a favorite card that they won't trade? "This is the Charizard I pulled in my first pack" or "This is my first ever holofoil." If any of you have read my articles before, you might know that my imaginary poke-friend is a Dratini, named OhDrat. My first page is just the Dragon pokemon, six english, 2 german, 1 japanese. I've been planning a deck with some of them but I'm waiting for the Amazing Erika's Dragonair to get serious about it!

The second page has my promos. I'm not going to get all of them, but it's nice to have part of the collection. I tell people which promo cards I might be willing to trade after I mention that I have two off-limits pages. Anywhere else in the folder, I'd probably trade it, maybe with reluctance, except the "I want these for a deck" cards. What's wrong with a bit of collecting? I'm sure every pokemon player has some cards they don't want to lose or trade or are special to them. I don't like it when people refuse to trade just because there's a few cards I want to keep. It's not like I won't make a reasonable trade, but it's really REALLY annoying when some jerk says rudely "I don't trade with people who say that" after I tell him I won't trade from my first two pages. I went through a lot of trouble to get some of those cards (i.e. holo Kangaskhan for a non-holo fossil Dragonite) and I'm NOT about to trade them for some card that I don't want or need. And it's not! like the dragon cards are partic

So what is this rant about? I'm not sure, but I feel better to let off steam. I'm not entirely against Rants but I'm sick of the way people keep ranting on the same things. Over and over "The stupid kids whose parents won't let them trade!" "The idiotic judges who said my Ditto was knocked out after only 60 damage had been done to it by a Blastoise!" and the infamous "Archetypes suck. Everyone plays archetypes. They should be banned." with the response "Archetypes rock. People play them because they're good. They shouldn't be banned because they make people try harder to beat them." They've gotten boring FAST. But I guess they're better than everyone trying to tell me which color is "The Best" or "This is Why Movie Mewtwo is Better Than Charizard!"

okay, I think the steam's gone now! Thanks! :)
