hi, hhuang writing today.
i'm a long time fan of pojo, this is my first article.  it's incredibly long
cuz i got nothing better to do. ^_^
so...here we go...

i was in chem. today (lousy summer school) and i got REALLY bored.  our
school is really messed up and we had like 1 and a half hours of free time.
anyway, i was considering the recent articles about the severe hand
disruption of the upcoming gym series.
meanwhile, i was thinking about my sponge...and the fact that i always
either mulliganed, or started with only one.  always a rocky start, with my
luck, anyway.
of course, i wanted to make an original deck, and one thing that i
considered was speed.  here's where a certain trainer called blaine comes in
(it just popped into my head when i was reconstructing gym leader decks),
here's a cut-and-pasted pojo spoiler:

Blaine
Type:  Trainer
Effect:  For this turn only, you may play 1 additional R Energy
card on 1 of your Blaine Pokemon.
Picture:  Blaine
No number (Rare)

reminds me of raindance, too bad i only get 4.....
4 stinks, but that turns into 8 with itemfinder.  that's 8 turns saved.
pretty decent.
now that i'm restricted to blaine's pokemon, i looked over the translations.
here's what attracted my eye: (cut and paste, again)

   Blaine's Growlithe
   Type:  Basic Fire Pokemon
   LV.20       HP 60
   R:   Give (Moe)
Effect:  Search your deck for a R Energy card and attach
it to this Pokemon.  Shuffle your deck afterward.
   RCC:   (Noshikakari):   20
Effect:  Flip a coin.  If heads, the Defending Pokemon is
       now Paralyzed.
   -C          Retreat
   W           Weakness
   No. 058

   Blaine's Arcanine
Type:  Stage 1 Fire Pokemon (Evolves from Blaine's Growlithe)
   LV.42       HP 90
   RCC:   Heat Tackle:   40
Effect:  This Pokemon does 10 damage to itself.
   RRRR:   Firestorm:   120
Effect:  Discard 3 R Energy cards attached to this Pokemon
in order to use this attack.
   -CCC        Retreat
   W           Weakness
   No. 059 (Holo)

by my second turn, i could have 3 energys on blaine's arcanine, and the
blaine trainer makes 4.  now, most decks only start with 1 or 2 pokes in
play, but get more by searching and drawing.  RSA could help me restrict
that seraching and drawing, but that definetely will not be enough.
imposter oaks revenge is definitely a shoe-in, and it works well with this
card:

   Spy Tactics
   Type:  Trainer
Effect:  Look at your opponent's hand.  Afterward, if you
wish, you may discard as many cards as you like from your
hand, then draw the same number of cards that you discarded.
Picture:  Lt. Surge and a Raichu with binoculars.
   No number

ok, so what i have here is some serious hand disruption, i didn't include
TR's trap because of the flip.
so basically, for now, here's what i have:

4 blaine's growlithe
3 blaine's arcanine
4 blaine
4 item finder
4 RSA
4 spy tactics
3 oaks revenge

for this to work, i'll obviously need speed, spy tactics helps a little, but
oaks are what i'm looking for, as well as PC searches for the oaks and other
cards:
add:
4 oak
4 PC search

i'll always need energy, but since this deck is designed for 2nd-3rd turn
victory, i won't need many
add:
14 fire nrg
2 energy retrieval

another problem, my mulligan.  if i mulligan, my opponent gets more cards.
i'll need, basically, a starter.  i'll need something with no retreat,
because i don't wanna waste energy or trainers on retreating.  what's a good
starting poke with no retreat...hm....(a tough one).
ok..i'll also include rocket porygon.  yes, the first turn jab is imminent,
but no retreat and resistance are there, plus the conversion makes blaine's
arcanine do 80 for the 1st attack.  hays only have 70...think about
it.....as a bonus, porygon provides defense against those mimes
add:
4 scyther
2 porygon (rocket)
2 DCE

58 cards.  ok...lastly, ER's and SER's can severly disrupt this concept.
what better than prohibition gym to add?
add:
2 prohibition gym

here's my deck, basically:
pokemon: 13
4 scyther
2 porygon (rocket)
4 blaine's growlithe
3 blaine's arcanine

energy: 16
14 fire
2 DCE

trainers: 31
4 blaine
4 item finder
4 RSA
4 spy tactics
3 oaks revenge
2 energy retrieval
2 prohibition gym
4 oak
4 PC search

i REALLY want feedback on this deck.  it might have potential, but probably
needs more drawing power.  i figure that the finders and searches make up
for the missing bills, though.

any feedback to me, hhuang
