How the Game was Lost.

The game is now broken and pointless. Views I was defending against are now
plainly true- people have no new or different ideas; it's all copied or
stolen from somewhere else. I'll make a few points on this later.
1st I'd like to ask- if Ness is so upset about Pokémon being and broken
game, and then says playing Erika's Jigglypuff, Wiggly, and other game
breakers is unfair, then why does he play them at the STS? This is in no
ways a bash of Ness or any of the Pojo crew, but something to prove a point-
people complain because they don't want other people doing something they
want. Its like me saying no one good should play Pokémon so I can win every
tourney in the US. People whine and moan because people are strait off
better then they are and they don't want them to be.
Anyone go to Wizard's Pokémon page? Anyone see the deck listings for the top
8 for each age group? Well, I did. I noticed something in them. They were
all well designed, they were all relatively simple to play, and they were
all almost exactly the same. Every deck in the 11-14 and 15 and up divisions
had at least one of the following- Rocket's Zapdos, Wigglytuff, Clefable, or
Blastoise (which was no where near in such high quantity as the other
three). What do I think caused this? Pojo. Once again, this is not a direct
bash, this is a fact, most of the things were not stated by people working
for Pojo, but rather people who write in and don't know when to keep a good
idea to themselves. What did I hear since the beginning of the new school
year on Pojo, just after the qualifiers started and people began hearing
prop 15/3c was real? "Clefable this", "Clefable that", "Wiggly this,
Rocket's Zapdos everywhere". Now, not everyone supported Wiggly (not
everyone as in a large majority), but every time I opened a new issue of
Pojo, all I read was "You must play rocket's zapdos". Now this hurts me a
lot. I had designed a deck back when I started playing (and improved upon it
as each set came out) only to find that suddenly, because people were
announcing (and forcing these announcements down peoples throats) what can
and can't be played, my idea became one that would be laughed at if I said I
had invented it. I spent a whole bunch of time writing the report, and at
least a year making the deck, only to find it wasn't original, my deck was
old before the set came out. Now all I see are the same decks at tourneys,
and me playing a deck that I didn't need to get from pojo or any other
Pokémon site, which still isn't considered an original deck. Everyone plays
stuff which is already overplayed, thank god for Neo, making Wiggly decks
useless and killing off Electric superiority. I doubt anything will change,
they'll just be a new Wigglytuff or a new Rocket's Zapdos to take the place
of the old ones, like Zap and Wiggly did for Buzz and Hitmonchan. And I'll
still look back at the deck I tried so hard on, only to find that it is
unplayable because some new Wiggly/stompination or something deck has come
that kills everything else, and go back to a tourney and find that being the
only thing there. I, myself, almost feel like stopping Pokémon altogether,
only because no one tries anything new and there's nothing to try for when
all I do is play against the same decks, one after the other, every week. I
still love hays, and I implore people who enjoy hays to keep playing them,
but you don't need Rocket's Zapdos to do so. You don't need Wigglytuff to
make a deck which will win you a Tourney, and you don't need Clefable to
bring home the bacon, what you need is to use new ideas. Trust me, no matter
how good or bad you do, you'll be proud of yourself either way. When Neo
comes out, I'll still play my Brillo deck, and it'll be better then it used
to be. Only this time, I'll be playing more people who play it.
So, in conclusion, Pokémon is in its darkest time now. James O'Brien, Rudy,
and the rest from the showdown, get your heads out of the feeding troth and
try winning with something that everyone isn't already playing with. Rob,
try using something that I didn't give you and claim it your own. Tim, just
stop stealing my ideas.
And everyone who just runs to Pojo, or opens their binder when building a
deck and immediately pulls out Wiggly, save some room for the rest of us at
the tourney who want to think a little.
