This is the first time I've written to Pojo but please post this. I have a
deck that would be designed all around "Blaine's Magmar".  This is Blaine's
Magmar:

Name:        Blaine's Magmar
Type:        Basic Pokemon
Card #:      card 37/132
Rarity:      Uncommon
Color:       Fire
HP:          60 HP
Weakness:    W
Resistance:  none
Retreat:     2
Pokemon #:   126
Species:     Spitfire
Level:       29
Attack:      [R]  Firebreathing  (10+)
Flip a coin.  If heads, this attack does 10 damage plus 10 more
damage; if tails, this attack does 10 damage.
Attack:      [RRR]  Lava Burst  (20x)
Discard the top 5 cards of your deck.  (If there are fewer than 5
cards in your deck, discard all of them.)  This attack does 20
damage for each R Energy card you discarded in this way.

You can have a "Turbo Magmar"deck by constructing this:

Pokemon:
4 Blaine's Magmar
4 Rocket's Moltres

Trainers:
4 Pokedex
4 Defender
4 Computer Search

Energies:
40 Fire energy

Though this deck has only 8 pokemon it still is ultimate. With Blaine's
Magmar's lava burst (20x the number of fire energies you discard when
discarding 5 cards from your deck) and 40 fire energies. you can almost
guarantee that Magmar will do 100 damage. With Rocket's Moltres' pokemon
power rebirth (if Rocket's Moltres is KO'ed this power put it back in your
hand) once you get one out you can almost guarantee a basic on the bench.
Also I have found the one deck where pokedex is actually a useful card. With
a pokedex you can look at the next five cards in your deck and rearrange them
as you like. With that you can determine whether you should use lava burst or
Firebreathing. With defender you can make Magmar last really long. Magmar is
also a mime stopper with an attack that can do 20 damage for R with a coin
flip. The computer search lets you search for the pokemon you need.  Don't
worry about Mulligans because of you got heavy hitters. The only problem is
that this deck is chockfull of rare cards.  But if you trade good you cold
get the rares needed to build this deck.
