Dear PoJo, Love the site! I'm writing this article in response to recently reading a wide variety of stuff, proclaiming fire to be the either the suckiest or the weakest color...well, time to peel away the fabrics of the myth and find out if it really is all that bad. Cons: Do I really need to list them all? Weakness to water(Personally, my fav. deck is my Rain Dance deck), Massive discarding, too high priced attacks, and slow cards... Well slow cards is what brings me to the big daddy of all the Fires...do I really need to say it? The big lizard has beefy health, powerful attack, blah blah. Well he goes 20 on a super highway! Discarding 2 energies per turn, WHAT IS WITH THAT? Plus the Charizard deck went out long ago! Mono-fire is dead! Pros: Alright, so I was a little melo-dramatic last time...well let's look at what's good about Fire Pokes. For starters...I mean that literally, they are perfect for the role. All beefy, each one has 50 HP making them impossible to kill on the first hit(even with weakness). Second off, they go after throat early. Charmander's scratch and ember are cheap attacks, for plenty of damage...plus they fill other voids in a deck... Time to look at Charizard again. Being a Fire/Flying type, he can fill a very strange role late in the game. Charizard can actually stall a haymaker! Being part flying, he posses a Resistence to fighting types...plus his beefy HP lets you try to pull up some kind of defense on the bench while he holds down the fort... OK! Enough with the stereotyped Fire Poke, let's look at the three best CARDS of the Fire set. The title of best card belongs to a Jungle pal of ours...Rapidash! For two colorless he can do 20 or 30, and for 2 fire and 1 colorless, he does 30 with a 50% chance of being invincible. What got him the title best fire card in my opinion? NO DISCARDING ATTACKS! A close second on the list was Magmar. Magmar has two main advantages over Rapidash, it's a basic, and a more powerful second attack. But coupled with a lower HP and Flamethrower being a discard attack, it couldn't catch Rapidash. Tied with Magmar was the most potent of the fire pokemon...CHARMELEON! That's right! Slash is decent, not too good, but decent. Flamethrower is just like Magmar's. So what makes him the most potent fire Pokemon? 80HP! Yeah, he is a stage one, and his energy requirements are a bit high, but if you get him out there charged up, he's a force to be reckoned with! Besides, he is better than Charizard IMO Alright, we've seen both sides of the coin...is Fire the weakest type? Well, no type is truly the weakest...its all POV. I do say however, Fire is a good color...good health, decent attacks...a card that actually has attacks that don't discard. Expect fire to rise out of the ashes like a phoenix...with it's own phoenix, Moltres. A basic, armed with 70HP, and Sky Attack, an 80 damage non-discarding monster, things are gonna get pretty hot. Only down side to Sky Attack, flip a coin, if tails, this attack does nothing. So in conclusion...Fire is not weak...but it's not too strong either, so what do you think?.
