Dear PoJo, Love the site! This article is for everyone out there wondering "What is a Haymaker?" or "What is a Anti-Speed deck?" I wish that there would have been something like this when I started surfing the site, I was lost until I pieced together what was what. There are 6 main deck classes(atleast that I know of) and they are Speed, Stall, Anti-Speed, Anti-Stall, Beatdown, and Miscellaneous. Let's look at a brief overview of each deck class Speed- Probably the most effcient deck class, Speed decks are simple to build, easy to maintain, and usually pack a massive punch. Two of the most widely played deck types, Haymaker and Rain Dance, are speed decks. Haymaker is the King of all the speed decks, dealing huge amounts of damage with Hitmonchan or Electrabuzz for little energy. While the Rain Dance Deck is a moderate speed deck, which pummels the opponent into the ground with Blastoise. Average Construction Cost: Varies Stall- Slow and steady wins the race, espically with a stall deck. These big boys usually revolve around Chansey, and if you have a big wallet, Alakazam. They use Damage Swap and Poke Centers to keep alive, while using Imp Oaks to run you out of cards. In the long run, these guys are devilishly effective...buy also are pretty expensive to build. Average Consruction Cost(Alakazam Staller): $180-$210 Anti-Speed- These decks, really aren't very wide spread, and are mainly designed to combat individual decks. Many Electric/Grass decks were designed to defeat Rain Dance Decks, and Psi/Fighting to nail Haymakers. There is a deck type that makes it's home here, the Damage Swap deck. Average Construction Cost: Varies Anti-Stall Decks- These very similar to their anti-speed cousins are usually designed to beat individual decks. They are usually similar to Haymakers, except that they actually work a little faster, using PlusPowers for a bigger boost. Beatdown- These decks are my personal favorites, probably because most of our speed friends come back to play. Haymakers and Rain Dance decks are beatdown decks, because they completely pummel the opponent into the ground and have massive ammounts of overkill. Also in this group are the mono-electric Zapdos decks(Probably only a few exist, but they are beatdown decks) and the Charizard deck(More than the Zapdos deck, but still not many are around anymore.) Miscellaneous- This is where, most of those "Woke up at 2:30 AM and built this deck" come from. Also some of the weirdest and coolest decks are here two. My new fav deck...well second only to my Rain Dance deck...is a mono-electric deck called Power Surge. Power Surge uses the Jungle Pikachu and Electrode to not only rack up damage on the active, but to destroy the opponents bench too. I love their look when I GOW and bring out an abra, finish it off, and kill something that only had 10 HP left on it on the bench. So many deck classes, so little time...well I'm pretty much out of time. To just add to the confusion, there are many themes to the various classes, PokePower ones(Damage Swap, Rain Dance, and Energy Trans) and trainer themes(Energy Denial)...so, you got a handle on what's going on with all of the classes?
