Right now the big thing is Jungle. Scyther, Mr. Mime, all kinds of great cards. But what's next to come? Well my friends it's FOSSIL. The next expansion set that'll be released this Fall. Well, I got a few translations from Geoff Ballard (can't thank him enough!) from the Japanese cards from The Media Factory. They are the same as Wizards, except in they're Japanese, duh! Well I'm going to tell you about the Trainers and Pokémon to be in there. Here's my favorites from FOSSIL. Pokemon No.: 142 Type: Fighting Evolution: Stage 1 - from Fossil Name: Aerodactyl Level: 28 HP: 60 Weakness: Grass Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 2 Attacks: Power: Primitive Strength: While this card is in play, neither player may evolve any pokemon. This power may not be used if Aerodactyl is Confused, Asleep or Paralyzed. [3] Wing Attack (30) Ok, you are probably wandering "Stage 1 from Fossil???" Well, there's a trainer like Clefairy Doll called fossil. Trainer (10 HP) Fossil Text: Play Fossil as if it were a Basic Pokemon. While in play, Fossil counts as a Pokemon (instead of a Trainer card.) Fossil has no attacks, can't retreat, and can't be Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, or Poisoned. If Fossil is KO'd, it doesn't count as a KO. At any time during your turn (before attack), you may discard Fossil. Certain Types of Pokemon may only be evolved from a Fossil. It's not rare either so Clefairy Doll is useless when this set comes out. It's like a Basic Pokémon that Fossil Pokémon (the Fighting Pokémon named Kabuto, and Aerodacty, and the Water Pokémon Omanytel) evolve from. Anyway, I love this card! Not being allowed to evolve is pretty bad, but if you're running a Haymaker, who would want to evolve anyway? Plus your opponent can evolve, which is the best thing about it. I can bet you money that this card will be in the new Haymakers that have a de-evolving theme. They will probably include the next card, too: Pokemon No.: 151 Type: Psychic Evolution: Basic Name: Mew Level: 23 HP: 50 Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: [P] Psywave (10x) Does 10 damage for each Energy Card attached to defender. [PP] Devolution Beam () Return an opponent's Evolution Card to opponent's hand. This card will find it's way into many, many decks. It has an attack just like Mewtwo's, and for just 2 Psychic you can de-evolve any one of your opponent's Pokémon!!! When I saw this my mouth dropped, too. Not too tough with only 50 HP, but the attacks are great. But this isn't the only one that made me jump up and down. Just look at this: Pokemon No.: 54 Type: Water Evolution: Basic Name: Psyduck Level: 15 HP: 50 Weakness: Lightning Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: [P] Migraine () Opponent cannot use Trainer Cards next turn. [W] Fury Swipes (10x) Flip 3 coins. Does 10 damage times the number of heads. For 1 Psychic you can prevent your opponent's use of trainers. Then for 1 Water you can do up to 30. And the 50 HP is handy, too. The next card I'll show you is probably my all time favorite in this set: Pokemon No.: 132 Type: Colorless Evolution: Basic Name: Ditto Level: 20 HP: 50 Weakness: Fighting Resistance: Psychic -30 Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: Power: Transform: When this card is Active, This Card is the same as the opponent's Active Pokemon. Any Color Energy Card may be used to satisfy Energy Requirements. If this Card is Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed or Benched, this Power does not work. You may not attach Evolution Cards to this card. This card is excellent. Kinda like Metronome, but better in one way, and worse in another. It is the same as your opponents, except for energy, damage, and status effects. Being a basic, you can lay him down on one turn, copy your opponents Stage 2 that took him/her 3 or 4 turns to get together. Very useful if you are playing against an evolving theme. You can be as powerful with a basic as your opponent is with a Stage 2! But the bad part is that the energy requirement is not ignored, so you can get a free Fire Spin from your opponents Charizard. But you can use Double Colorless to feed any attack. So he can be fully charged in 2 turns! Here's another I can see right now going into Raindance decks, the great: Pokemon No.: 144 Type: Water Evolution: Basic Name: Articuno Level: 35 HP: 70 Weakness: None Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 2 Attacks: [WWW] Freeze Dry (30) Flip coin. If heads, then defender is paralyzed. [WWWW] Blizzard (50) Flip coin. If heads, then all of opponent's Pokemon suffer 10 damage; if tails, then all of your Pokemon suffer 10 damage. A very powerful bench destroyer (both your opponents AND yours though), this will make it's way into Bench destroyer decks along with the Jungle's Pikachu, The Jungle's Electrode, and this set's: Pokemon No.: 26 Type: Lightning Evolution: Stage 1 - from Pikachu Name: Raichu Level: 45 HP: 90 Weakness: Fighting Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: [LLLL] Giga Spark (30) Choose one of the opponent's Benched Pokemon and deal 10 damage to it (no weakness or resistance). Kinda good, but basically a bigger Jungle Pikachu. Another bench destroyer which very useful is: Pokemon No.: 106 Type: Fighting Evolution: Basic Name: Hitmonlee Level: 30 HP: 60 Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: [FF] Stretch Kick () Choose one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. (Don't apply Resistance/Weakness) Deal 20 damage to it. (If opponent has no bench, then this attack may not be used) [FFF] Hi Jump Kick (50) I don't see him as good as his counterpart Hitmonchan, but pretty neat. I like some other ones too. Moltres: Pokemon No.: 146 Type: Fire Evolution: Basic Name: Moltres Level: 35 HP: 70 Weakness: None Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 2 Attacks: [R] Brushfire () Discard as many Fire Energy Cards on Moltres as you like. Discard from the top of the opponent's deck the number of Energy Cards discarded. [RRRR] Sky Attack (80) Flip coin. If tails, then this attack does nothing. Note: Yup, it really is Sky Attack even if the katakana says "Gotto Baado" or similar. At least that's what Nintendo translates it as. Muk: Pokemon No.: 89 Type: Grass Evolution: Stage 1 - from Grimer Name: Muk Level: 34 HP: 70 Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 2 Attacks: Power: Chemically Changing Gas: When this card is in play, all Pokemon Powers are disabled, except for this one. This power cannot be used if Muk is Asleep, Confused or Paralyzed. [GGG] Sludge Attack (30) Flip coin. If heads, then defender is poisoned. And even the brand spankin' new Gaslty-Haunter-Gengar set! Pokemon No.: 92 Type: Psychic Evolution: Basic Name: Gastly Level: 17 HP: 50 Weakness: None Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 0 Attacks: [P] Lick (10) Flip coin. If heads, then defender is now paralyzed. [PP] Energy Conversion () Take at most 2 Energy cards from your discard pile and add them to your hand. Then Gastly takes 10 damage. Pokemon No.: 93 Type: Psychic Evolution: Stage 1 - from Gastly Name: Haunter Level: 17 HP: 50 Weakness: None Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 0 Attacks: Power: Transparency: If this card is damaged or effected by an attack, flip coin. If heads, then attack doesn't do any damage or effects. This power cannot be used if Haunter is Asleep, Confused or Paralyzed. [1P] Bad Dream (10) Opponent is now asleep. Note: Although "Akumu" really does mean Nightmare, there's a different Nightmare attack in a future set by another Haunter and I want to avoid confusion. Pokemon No.: 94 Type: Psychic Evolution: Stage 2 - from Haunter Name: Gengar Level: 38 HP: 80 Weakness: None Resistance: Fighting -30 Retreat Cost: 1 Attacks: Power: Curse: Once per turn, before you attack, you may move 1 damage counter from one enemy pokemon to another. This power may not be used if Gengar is Asleep, Confused or Paralyzed. [PPP] Night Shade (30) This attack does 30 damage to the defending Pokemon plus 10 damage to a Pokemon on the opponent's bench. Right now people are still fiddling with Jungle, but I just can't wait for Fossil!!
