I was bored this morining, and after reading about how hard it is to get a DCI event to take place, I went to WotC's own web site for some reasearch. Some of the things I found were quite interesting. First, WotC says that the match is decided on one game. The winner of the game wins the match. What happened to the best of three idea? With only one game deciding the match, if you get a horrible hand, your screwed, because you don't get another chance. You don't even get to mulligan if you have a basic pokemon. I think it somethimes takes more than one game to decide the winner, especially if the games are all close, like within 1-2 prize cards. Second, I wanted a few laughs, so I went to see what to do for penalties for these turneys. I was amazed. We are talking about probably the laziest rules, if not akward. Most penalties only come after 3, that's right, 3 offenses. And then, it's usually letting your opponent draw 2 goal cards. It seems that the DCI thinks that people won't act the same way as in magic. Some do cheat, and only penalizing them after 3 trys kind of encourages it. Finally, they want you to pair people up by age brackets it possible. And then, the way they have it set up, only the little kids get the bye.. and the bye is just like a win! It kinda makes me feel weird that I am a teenager, and the game is beginning to focus on the little kids. What about us? They even have a tournament for 12 and below... and nothing for us. Hey, there are some older people out there. So what do you people think??? This is Chipmunk, from The Guild, signing out. Chipmunk_G@hotmail.com P.S. Go check out Chipmunk's Chatter...and plez, if you have a better name, TELL ME!!! I couldn't come up with one. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Visit http://www.msn.com
