Title: Top 10 Pokemon cards

Dear Pojo,

You asked me a while back if I would like to write an article describing the 
TOP 10 cards in the American Base set, that every player should own.

Here it is:)

   It is actually very difficult to get a total of 10 "must-haves" in a set 
of only 102 cards.  If you think about it, that makes 1/10 of the entire set 
killer cards.  But to tell you the truth, pokemon DOES have 10, and these 
are them: (not placed in any particular order:

1. Professor Oak
2. Bill
3. Energy removal
4. Super energy removal
5. Gust of wind
6. potion
7. Farfetch'd
8. Jynx
9. Hitmonchan
10. Electrabuzz

Now, I'm sure many people will disagree with some of my choices, and others 
will wonder why some cards are not in the list...So, I'll explain, one card 
at a time.

Oaks:  This is broken and is extremely powerfull, enough said

Bill:  Same as oak, but even better. (since you don't have to discard)

energy removal: This card is appearing in EVERY TOURNY WINING DECK

Super E.R.: Same as energy removal...

Potion:  Now you might look at this one strange, but think how powerfull 
this card really is.  With potion, you will win the battle of two identical 
pokemon facing each other...that gives YOU the edge in a tournament, AND in 
regular play.

Gust of wind:  at first glance, I brushed this card aside...but after many 
tournys, I finally see the reason this is a top 10 card. As you're playing, 
the BEST pokemon players will constantly retreat their pokemon in order to 
keep them alive, and to prevent you from getting a prize.  Gust of wind is a 
surprise to them, and becomes a disruptor in their game plan...super nasty:)

Farfetch'd:  Ok, so I praise this guy OVER AND OVER again...but he is simply 
one of the best basics in the game. And DEFINATLY the BEst colorless 
pokemon.  Now just because he is in the Top 10 DOES NOT mean he has no 
drawbacks.  I am simply saying that he is a "must-have" in pokemon.

Hitmonchan +
Electrabuzz +
Jynx:          HA! didn't expect that one did you?  well, I call him and his 
two brother's, Hitmonchan, and electrabuzz, the Bully Brothers:)  I know it 
sounds corny, but I like it:)  When making a deck, a homogenious 
construction creates a MUCH nicer, and more reliable deck.  jynx, 
Hitmonchan, AND electrabuzz are three pokemon with EXTREMELY similar 
aspects.  Same HP, all have a one energy attack that each do something 
different, but are all equally nasty, and finally, all their second attacks 
are extemly dangerous to go against. All three are very solid basics and to 
tell you the truth, the only 3 color deck I would ever make would be 
electric, fighting, and Psi.

NOw, if any of you disagree, I understand, please let me know, I will defend 
my case the best I can.

I would also like to point out, that only ONE of the top 10 are holofoils! 
think about that, the best ain't always shiny:)

another comment: Don't think just because I didn't include cards in the top 
10, means that I don't think they are REAL powerfull, Its just my opinion 
that these particular 10 rise just a bit higher than the rest.
