I feel that i'm starting to sound like a grumpy old man doing this, but i
just have to sound off here.

I am responding (don't i ever write original articles?) to an article about
rarity where the writer says that he took a whole 24 booster packs and
described what he'd found and determined that the rarity symbols were
misleading.  His experiment is misleading.

24 is the sample set?  man!  what kind of math are you doing?  you might as
well flip 6 heads on a coin and believe that the coin only flip heads!
sheesh!  you know the rarities are basically guides, and they really do make
proportional numbers of cards depending on rarity.  i have boxes and boxes of
mysterious fossils, i'll trade any one of them for a moltres.  On the other
hand i have lots of gengars.  you don't really see the effect of rarity
symbols until your sample set becomes huge.  not so practical for one person
getting cards on his own (unless he has thousands of dollars and time to blow
on cards), but rather very useful in trading because you're effectively
increasing the sample set of cards.

keep thinking
