Hey Pojo! I'm new to the Pokemon TCG but I think I deserve to say something. First of all, I think you should try to use different kinds of Pokemon instead of one type, so you can concentrate on weaknesses and advantages. You shouldn't use all the different types but maybe about 2 or 3. It will be harder to get the right types of energies and cards, but if you have enough of them you'll have enough to attack with. If you put your cards into numbers, this is a good amount for each section: Pokemon: You should have about 15-20 Pokemon in your deck. It's a good amount so you can use trainers and enough energies. Energies: You should have 25-30 energies in your deck Trainers: Many people overlook trainer but even common ones are great to use. I say you should have about 10-15 trainers in your deck. GREAT TIP: Don't overlook trainers. Potions are awesome so are gusts of wind, energy removals, and energy retrievals. One thing I like two do is since it's good to limit yourself to only a few types of cards, use gusts of wind. When you do this, switch your opponents active Pokemon to one that is weak to your type of Pokemon. Second of all I think the most overlooked Pokemon is Magmar. This is one of the best basic fire Pokemon. I have also included a list of the Top 10 overlooked Pokemon in random order. Top Overlooked Card: Name: Magmar Evolution: Basic Pokemon Type: Fire HP: 50 (Great for a basic Pokemon) Attacks: Fire Punch 2 Fire Energy 30 HP Flamethrower 2 Fire , 1 Colorless (Discard 1 Energy) 50 HP Weakness: Water Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 2 I think that the attacks are good however the retreat cost is a little high. It has a so-so HP number but good for a Basic Pokemon. Overall though I think that Magmar is a very good Pokemon. Some other overlooked Pokemon are Rhyhorn and Rhydon. It's always good to stick some Ryhorn and Rhydons in your fighting decks. These Pokemon have great attacks and have good HP. Just look at there stats: Name: Rhyhorn Evolution: Basic Pokemon Type: Fighting HP: 70 (For a basic Pokemon!) Attacks: Leer 1 colorless Flip a coin, If heads the defending Pokemon can't attack Rhyhorn during your opponents next turn. (Benching either Pokemon ends this effect) Horn Attack 1 fighting, 2 colorless 30 HP Weakness: Plant Resistance: Electric -30 Retreat Cost: 3 Rhyhorn has great attacks, especially Horn Attack, and the best thing about it is that it's almost a totally colorless Pokemon! It also has resistance to electric but it is weak against plant. It's retreat cost is high but it's really a Rock Pokemon so you have to expect that. It also has 70 HP for a Basic Pokemon!! Now let's have a look at Rhydon: Name: Rhydon Evolution: Stage 1 Pokemon (evolves from Rhyhorn) Type: Fighting HP: 100 ( Very Good!) Attacks: Horn Attack 1 fighting, 2 colorless 30 HP Ram 4 fighting Rhydon does 20 damage to itself. If your opponent has any benched Pokemon, he or she chooses 1 of them and switches it with the defending Pokemon. (Do the damage before switching the Pokemon. Switch the Pokemon even if Rhydon is knocked out.) Weakness: Plant Resistance: Electric -30 Retreat Cost: 3 Great attacks, great HP. Ram is a little costly but it switches your opponents active Pokemon with one on there bench. Weakness to plant, Resistance to electric. The retreat cost is high again but as I said before it's really a Rock Pokemon. Kadabra isn't terribly overlooked but is a little, probably because people look up to Alakazam. Here's Kadabra's stats: Name: Kadabra Evolution: Stage 1 Pokemon (evolves from Abra) Type: Psychic HP: 60 HP Attacks: Recover 2 psychic Discards 1 energy card attached to Kadabra in order to use this attack. Remove all damage counters from Kadabra. Super Psy 2 psychic 50 HP Weakness: Psychic Resistance: None Retreat Cost: 3 Super Psy is a great attack! Recover is awesome! What you can do is Super Psy, Recover, Super Psy, Recover, until your opponent is down. It has a good ability to take out Powerful Pokemon this way. High Retreat cost and weakness to Psychic. It's great attacks make up for HP and retreat cost. Next up: Jigglypuff Name: Jigglypuff Evolution: Basic Pokemon Type: Colorless (That's a plus) HP: 60 (Great for a Basic Pokemon) Attacks: Lullaby 1 colorless The defending Pokemon is now asleep. Pound 2 colorless 20HP Weakness: Fighting Resistance: Psychic -30 Retreat Cost: 1 I've got a great strategy for this one. Put your opponents Pokemon to sleep, and pound! If they don't stay asleep, use lullaby again. You also don't have to flip a coin for this one so that's good. Pound is also a great attack and Jigglypuff has 60 HP. Weakness to fighting , but resistance to psychic. Low retreat cost too! Lickitung is also a great colorless Pokemon. Let's have a look: Name: Lickitung Evolution: Basic Pokemon Type: Colorless (That's a plus) HP: 90 (Extraordinary for a Basic Pokemon!) Attacks: Tongue Wrap 1 Colorless 10 HP 50% chance of Paralyzing Supersonic 2 Colorless 0 HP 50% chance of Confusion Weakness: Fighting Resistance: 30- Psychic Retreat Cost: 3 Colorless Great HP, Okay Attacks, Psychic Resistance, and a Basic Pokemon. All great things. However, Lickitung does have obvious weaknesses, 3 to Retreat is an outrageous cost. It's attacks also are not the best but it's great heath makes up for that. Plus if you can get the opponents Pokemon Paralyzed and confused, that's really good. Next Card: Gust of Wind. Gust of Wind is a great card. As I explained earlier, you can switch your opponents Pokemon to one that is weak to your Pokemon. The last three cards I will list Potion, Energy Removal, and Energy Retrieval. Both Potion, and Super Potion are great because they heal your Pokemon a certain number of HP. Energy Removals are great to because they steal Energy from your opponents Pokemon to their discard pile. Lastly, Energy Retrievals are great because you can get your energy back from past battle or energy removals that have been used on you. Here are the Top 10 overlooked cards in random order: Magmar, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Kadabra, Jigglypuff, Lickitung, Gust of Wind, Potions, Energy Removals +, Energy Retrievals. Love the site Pojo! I'm a big fan! Please, please, post this on your site :). thanx, Joe S. If there are any questions or comments please e-mail me at AtlBravz28@ aol.com.
