Color Analysis Here is what I think of the colors of pokemon. Grass: A good type to use for changing status. It is the only type that can poison(exception-Fossil Magmar). May have Auto status(no coin flip) attacks like Ivysaur's poisonpowder, Gloom's Foul Odor,Nidoking's Toxic, etc. Also, many have other status attacks, like Tangela, Koffing, Oddish. Note that the Weedle line was meant to poison. Drawback-Grass types tend to have low HP Evolutions like Butterfree, Beedrill,Victreebel, etc. The best HP is Venusaur (100hp) and Nidoking/Queen(90hp). Stage 1's tend to have 60 or 70-Ivysaur, Gloom, Weepinbell, etc. They have good Basics-Scyther, Pinsir, NidoranF, Koffing. Grass Pokemon usually use ALL grass for their attacks-GGG for Poisonpowder, GG for Leech seed, GGGG for Solarbeam, GGG for Petal Dance. Grass is also good for Benchwork- Energy trans, Heal, and all those Call For Family attacks. Grass Stage 1's are especially good if you can get them at the beginning-They usually do small damage-Usually 30. Good Grass Pokemon: Scyther, Pinsir, NidoranF, Ivysaur(use correctly), Venusaur, Weepinbell(DO NOT evolve), Venomoth, Exeggutor, and Nidos(they do good damage FAST). Bad Grass: Victreebel(Stage 2?), Tangela(looks good, but test it-Too Slow, Hp Too Low). Fire: Good. People say they stink becase of Discard. NO!!! They need only to discard 1, so attack again the next turn(Exception-Charizard)! Load your deck with energy retrievals, Oaks, and ENERGY! They can do lots of damage-about 30 for Basic or 60 for stage 1. Many have excellent HP(no 30 HPer's, no 60HP stage 1). While playing I have found that pokemon do well if they can do at least 30 damage. They also need HP of about 60 or up. They can stand up to 2 or 3 attacks, and deal out damage just as easily. Stage 1's are a good example of this, especially fire types. Fire has Stage 1 pokemon that are as strong as if not stronger than some Stage 2's. Good examples are Ninetales, Arcanine, Charmeleon, and Flareon. They have good HP, Awesome but discarding attacks, and decent retreat costs except Arcanine. These are good all around Pokemon but they usually have drawbacks in their attacks. Water: This is the type with absolute WORST basics yet AWESOME evolutions. The basics in this type are not good-Poliwag, Squirtle, and the OK Staryu. This type should be in an Evolution or RainDance deck. The Evolutions are great-Wartortle, Poliwrath, Poliwhirl(a little short on HP) and of course Blastoise. These pokemon all do at least 30 damage and Wartortle's Bite is nice(For the same 3 energy Ivysaur does 30 and Nidoking has to flip.). Blastoise has a power strong enough to have it's own deck- RainDance. Many times water Pokemon have attacks that don't do a solid amount of damage-it's like 30x or 30+. Poliwrath has a great attack to go against fire-Whirlpool. After a fire type discards an energy, Whirpool-2 turns before the fire type attacks again if they even survive due to the weakness. Psychic: Again, not the best basics-Abra and Gastly and Drowzee. The worst psychics are gastly and Haunter(base set). Jynx is like the Hitmonchan of Psychic. Kadabra is awesome in the early game- 50 damage,Recover. I put a Abra and Kadabra line in my deck, and it's a 4-3 set. I can usually get a Kadabra by turn 3 or 4. Alakazam is good too. Psychic is a stall type, with pokemon like Mr. Mime and Alakazam(damage swap). Also Gastly's Destiny Bond will force the opponent to not attack you-the easy way to get past this is a status effect, like a 10 damage paralyze or confuse. Poison also works. Fighting: The best attackers in the game along with fire. Hitmonchan, the best Haymaker card in the game. Machamp, a pure attacker with its power and 60 damage attack. It is great against those 70 hp haymakers-they hit you, strikes back hurts them 10, and take 'em out with Seismic toss. Machop, like a 50 hp Hitmonchan with no special punch and a better retreat. Machoke is a bad fighting Arcanine. First attack has a drawback(Machoke's is a bigger one), and second attack hurts self. Machoke has worse HP. The Diglett/Dugtrio line has good attack, but some drawback. Fighting is one of the best types. Electric: These pokemon have very damaging attacks, and then they also end up killing themselves. Some also seem to be like each other. Pikachu has an almost colorless attack, and a damaging yet maybe self damaging attack. Electabuzz is the same, but better HP, not a colorless attack, can paralyze, 2nd attack can do 40, but has a 2 retreat cost. Raichu is like Pikachu. Voltorb is like half of Jungle Electrode. Half HP, Half attack. A weak point of Electric is that it is weak to the most common type, Fighting. Zapdos is very drawbacking. Colorless: A slow type, but well rounded. They fit in any deck. They have stallers like Chansey and Lickitung, attackers like Persian and Pidgeot, bench disrupters like pidgey, etc. Basicly a good type. By the way, I have a hint for all you Zapdos lovers. Put two Buzzaped Electrodes on Zapdos. You lose 2 Prizes, but make it up by using Thunderbolt all the time. And NO DISCARDING! The attack says: Remove all ENERGY cards on Zapdos to use this attack. Electrode is NOT an energy card. It is a card that PROVIDES energy, so it itself is not an energy card. So you can keep Doing 100 damage! The drawback is that it could be tough to get out the 2 Electrodes and Zapdos, since they are all rare and Electrode is a stage 1. by Pando E-mail at: Pando333
