Here's another comparison of same-named cards. This, I feel, will be the
most controversial of all... MAGMAR! Now, let's see, what are they used for?
Base Magmar is the essence of "go out with a bang" or "a good offense is the
best defense" and we had better hope so with only 50 HP. Now, Fossil Magmar
is a total Beatdown. Poison and in esseence agility... as well as good HP...
This guy is beatdown, pure and simple. Why is he in Haymaker, but not Base
magmar? Only reason I see is better hp and turn 1 attack. I personally feel
that Base Magmar is infinitely superior. He avoids the all-too-common Fire
problem of removing yourself out of an attack. No way. 30 for 2 is great and
50 for 3-1 is sheer power. Unless facing a water deck or a really lucky
energy Denial deck, base magmar can usually KO at least 2 guys before he
dies, and when he does, you oughta have another ready. Now the virtues of
Fossil Magmar... Well, he will last a little longer against a water deck,
but not much. And like I said, Beatdown, but how many Fire beatdowns do you
see? Currently, there are 2 beatdown fire guys... him and Rapidash, and
rapidash isn't even in print! In a few months he might as well be a star in
terms of rarity! But oh well. Anyway, my point is F.Magmar goes great in
Beatdown, but there really aren't any fire beatdowns. All of Fire is total
strikedown and overpowering. He doesn't really go well with anything,
either. Sorry guys, but Base wins hands down...

My personal preference: Well, the fossil art is cool, but Base is by far the
better Pokémon in my eyes.

C'ya later Pojoheads!
