As with all Base Set Cards, many people think they could be improved greatly.
I agree with some. With others:
Base Set Pikachu
40 HP-Yes, we know, Pikachu has weak HP, but as you go first his,
Retreat Cost-Could be lower, but still, it is cheap and efficient compared
to, Tangela, Base Set Magmar, Krabby, bla, bla, bla! It can help him high
"tail" (hah hah) it out of a Hitmonchan or Machops way. Good, but not great.
Attacks-Gnaw:
C-10 dam.
Now, now Pikachu, your first attack is not very good, but...
<in backround, Pikachu moans "Piiiiiiii...">
it can help set up...
Thunder Jolt:
EC-30 dam.
Flip coin. If heads, the attack does 10 dam. to itself.
Okay, damage to itself. But, the flip is ingrained with the luck factor, and
30 damage is pretty devastating not to use. Yes, Pikachu is a below average
card, but still...
<in background, Pikachu 'again' moans "Piiiiiiii...">
"SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Thank you!"
...Thunder Jolt means bueisness. A highly experienced player realizes there
are ways to combat Pikachu being below average, such as using Dodrios to heal
your Pikachu on your bench, then possibley a Mr. Fuji.
<Pikachu shouts, "PIKACHU!!!!">
Geez, Pikachu, quiet!
Okay, and other ways to help Pikachu stay alive such as:
Using Potion
Using the Dodrio-Mr. Fuji Combo as I said above
You can use-bla bla bla.
Like any of you would use Pikachu alone in a deck.
So, Farewell,
Pojo.
