This article had a few good points. VERY few. I would now like to quote Satoshi from one of his articles: "People, you cannot justly compare a Stage 1 to a Basic. It does not work" This Appilies here 100%. Now, on to the article:

>Hello again everyone. I got just one thing to say. Ive been saying it for a
>while.
>SCYTHER STINKS!!!
Sure.
>To all you people who say Scyther needs no explanation for being # 1, then
>why is he number 1? Are you such a stupid follower that you just believe
>Scyther's good?

Yes.

>To all you people who say that Scyther can do 60 damage on
>turn 2, thats very unlikely.

Hmmm, on this one he is right. I did the math and (Assuming I did this right) there is only a 2.8888...% chance of this happening

>You are expecting to get a Scyther and grass
>energy and a DCE in your hand! THAT IS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY! You say Scyther
>should be in every deck because because he can use colorless attacks.
>WHOOPEE! WHY DONT YOU JUST USE A COLORLESS PKMN???

Hitmonchan.  And you repeated yourself.

>Plus all you people are
>dissin the charmander family. HELLO!!! Charmeleon has the same attack as
>Scyther!!!

So? Poliwag has the same attack as Lapras and that doesn't make him equal!

>Plus, he has 10 more HP!

That's (80hp) average for a stage 2.

>And if you happen to get a charmander, an
>energy, a DCE, and a Charmeleon (Which  you think will happen every time)
>He'll do 40 on turn two without colored energy!

That is even more unlikely! Only a 2.1% Chance!

>OH NO!! He has a retreat
>cost! Who cares? If someones good, why do you want to retreat him???

If he's almost dead, you get someone better, You want to throw an Evil Muk out just to annoy them....

>Also,
>after you KO a bunch of guys with Charmeleon, you can evolve him and KO a few
>more.

1. One. Uno. Ein. Ichi. I can't think of any more ways to say one in other languges. Discarding? Remember that little fact?

>Charmeleon wins by a mile. Of course, even magikarp would against
>Scyther. And dont e-mail me about that. I'm not serious.

You must measure a mile differently than I do.

You also forgot to mention some other key things:

1) Charmelon has a weakness to water. With all the rain dance decks out there, Charmelon is in trouble!
2) Resistance. Scyther and his wonderful resistance. Stops a Hitmonchan on turn 1 dead in it's tracks!
3) Scyther is basic!  70 HP is alot better than most basics with an average of 50. (That's with out Chansey in the base set. With Chansey it's 70!)

I WILL admit, Scyther DOES have weak points, but his strong points make up for that...
