The Best Cards in the Game (by color)

Grass-

3- Venusaur- Awesome Pokemon Power, powerful Attack, HP, but a stage 2. If you can get it out early, with grass energy, the opponent is toast.

2-Muk - Awesome Defensive card. Relatively weak, but can massively hurt a deck that relies on Pokemon powers.

1-Scyther- This guy is good in almost any good situation. Pretty much a colorless pokemon. Green on the outside, colorless on the inside. Free Retreat makes it tough to kill. Arguably the best card in the game.

Honorable Mentions: Pinsir, Exeggutor

Fighting-

3- Aerodactyl. - A bench warmer. Stops slow decks in it’s tracks. Can be used as colorless. It would be even better if it wasn’t weak to grass though. One slash and boom.

2- Hitmonlee - Not nearly as good as his "chan" counterpart. HP isn’t so great, but it’s attacks are pretty good. Stick with Chan, unless using both chan and lee.

1-Hitmonchan - Easily the fastest pokemon in the game. Good HP, Basic pokemon, huge quick attacks. Pounds colorless and lightning pokemon into a pulp.

Honorable Mentions: Machoke, Rhyhorn.

Fire-

3- Ponyta - Crappy HP. Awesome quick attacks. It’s evolution is awesome too, but in Potpourri decks, who needs it. Good with a dbl colorless energy. If playing potpourri decks, keep in hand, unless your opponent is playing grass, or unless you need it.

2- Ninetails - Only a stage 1. Keep luring out opponent’s pokemon that can’t attack until you get enough energy to nuke him. Charizard who?

1-Magmar (FO) - Another awesome Basic Pokemon. It can crush it’s opponents with big damage and poison, and has high HP. Speeds up Fire, big time.

Honorable Mentions: Rapidash, Arcanine, Charizard (yeah right, this guy sucks)

Water-

3- Lapras - Finally, a quick pokemon for Water. Confusing your opponent’s pokemon can save you the game, but it’s water gun is where it shines. It can almost always attack. Good HP too.

2- Articuno - If Blastoise is warming the bench, what is attacking? Here’s your best contender. Resistance to fighting, Huge damage. Basic Pokemon. Good HP. You can’t ask for more.

1-Blastoise- Raindance and Hydropump are just awesome. Get out an early Blastoise and it’s all over. Makes a good bench warmer too. A MUST in an all water deck.

Honorable Mentions - Gyarados, Dewgong

Psychic

3- Alakazam - Damage swap can be very devastating, if you use it right. Try putting some big HP guys on the bench. It’ll be near impossible to stop your pokemon. Also try Pokemon center.

2- Mewtwo (SP) - The new mewtwo is just one sweet card. 70 HP is good. Energy absorption to power up and deal 40’s in notime. Good with super Energy Removals, Super Potions, Comp Search, whatever you can use to throw energy in the discard pile.

1-Mr. Mime - This card can end the game by itself, against unwary opponents. It’s invisible wall is arguably the best pokemon power in the game. Disagree? Well, take whatever you think has the best pokemon power, and switch it with Invis wall. If Blastoise had an invis wall instead of raindance……..

Honorable Mentions - Jynx, Kadabra

Lightning-

3- Raichu (BS) - Agility is an awesome attack. Again, if you are lucky, you can do serious damage, without taking damage, yourself.

2- Zapdos (FO) - Only has 1 attack, but it is a good one. You need a lot of energy to pull it off, but can do a lot of damage, with a little luck. Resistance to Fighting, despite being Lightning.

1-Electabuzz - Offensively, the most powerful pokemon. Average of 35 damage with 2 energy, with avg 5 to yerself. 70 HP. A little attack, in case you don’t have enough energy for Thunderpunch.

Honorable Mentions: None. This color kinda sucks. Electabuzz is it’s only really good card.

Colorless-

3- Ditto - Unlimited possiblities. This card can be the best or the worst. Either way, it is just as good as the opponent’s pokemon. Maybe better, cuz it can use colorless energy.

2- Kangaskhan - Just like Chansey, Big HP. Except, it’s Fetch is awesome while stalling. Just load up on cards you need, and wait for Kangaskhan to get KO’d. Don’t bother with Comet Punch unless you need it.

1-Chansey - 120HP. Enough said. As long as you use it properly, it can be one of the best cards in the game. DON’T put energy on him. Scrunch and Double Slash are useless. Just sit and wait, loading your bench. When it’s almost dead, scoop up, or pokemon center, and maybe bring out another Chansey. Or leave it out there to get KO’d, for a small sacrifice.

Honorable Mentions: Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Farfetch’d

Trainers-

3- Gust of Wind - If you use it properly, this card can A) give you an easy KO, B) save you own pokemon from KO. Either way, it’s just awesome.

2- Professor Oak - Forget Gambler. The risk of drawing only 1 card is not worth it. If you are afraid of decking yourself, then maybe you should play the Oak more carefully. The most powerful card drawing tool in the game. Be careful though.

1-Bill - The only card that is useful in any situation (cept when you gonna deck yerself). You cannot go wrong with Bill. Always use 4 bills. This card is the most Versatile card in the game.

Honorable Mentions: ER/SER, Comp Search, Pokemon Center.
