Hey pojo! Long time reader, first time writer.
The Dratini / Dragonair / Dragonite is my favorite evolution set. No
weakness, colorless, and versatile!

Ok, here are the stats for the few of you who don't know.

Dratini
40 hp
no weakness
resistance to psychic
retreat cost: 1 colorless
Pound: 1 colorless
    does 10 damage

Dragonair
80 hp (Someone who did a review on these cards only said it had 60. Maybe
they were thinking of the japanese version)
same weakness and resistance as Dratini
retreat cost: 2 colorless
Slam: 3 colorless
flip two coins and do 30x the number of heads
Hyper beam: 4 colorless
20 damage and pick an energy card on the defending pokemon and discard
it

Dragonite
100 hp
no weakness
resistance to fighting
retreat cost 1 colorless
Pokemon power, Step in:
Once during your turn (before your attack) if Dragonite is on your
bench, you may switch Dragonite with your active pokemon.
Slam: 4 colorless
flip two coins and do 40x the number of heads

Well let's see here. Dratini isn't really an ideal starting pokemon
unless the opponent has a psychic active pokemon. Nothing really special
here, but at least you won't have to worry about weakness. The good stuff
comes when you evolve it though.
Now Dragonair is good. So good, I sometimes hate to evolve it into
Dragonite. Slam is ok, but hyper beam is where it's really at! If the
opponent's active pokemon only has 30 or less health left, use slam. Chance
are in your favor that you'll get at least one heads. But hyper beam is good
for disabling pokemon; especialy big ones with high energy requirements and
expensive retreat costs. The health (80) is also really nice. The retreat
cost isn't too bad either (2 colorless).
Whether or not you should evolve into Dragonite is iffy. If the opponent
has fighting pokemon, go for it. But if you're really depending on that
resistance to psychic, you might not want to. Also, if there's a big, bad
Charizard, that hyper beam will probably be more useful than Dragonite's
abilities. This is how this set is versatile. Our 2nd stage pokemon here has
a really neat pokemon power. It's more of a support to other pokemon
(allowing you to switch out a pokemon with a high retreat cost for free).
Even if you don't want Dragonite as your active pokemon, you can step in,
then pay the cheap 1 colorless retreat cost to switch to whatever pokemon
you desire on your bench. Slam is ok. You'll probably do 40 damage most
often. Not very reliable though.

How do I use the dragons? I have 4 Datini, 2 Dragonair, and 2 Dragonite.
Along with 2 Pokemon breeders, 2 Pokemon traders, and 4 double colorless
(duh), strong dragons will come out quickly and often. And the double
colorless make it possible to have a fully-pumped Dragonite within two turns
(and I've done this before). Yikes!
I'll probably go more in-depth when I post up my full deck later. Let's
just say that they're perfect for an all-psychic deck. Any comments,
questions, or criticism shold be sent here: ingrate@hotmail.com

Thanks!
