Here are the best cards of each type in my opinion:

 

Colorless

    3.  Clefairy (metronome is great, 40 hp way too low)

    2. Wigglytuff (60 damage with 3 energies- awesome)

    1.  Clefable (metronome one of the best attacks for one energy, 70 hp-great)

    Honorable mention:dragonair,rattatta-raticate, pidgeot, ditto

Water

    3. Gyarados (great attacks, resistance to fighting, but weak to grass)

    2. Articuno (basic pokemon, good attacks, no weakness)   

    1. Blastoise (great power - deck named after his power, best stage 2 pokemon)

    Honorable mention: dewgong, staryu, poliwrath,vaporeon, lapras

 

Fire

    3. Arcanine (high hp, fair attacks, stage 1 pokemon)

    2. Fossil Magmar (smokescreen's status affect's, 40 damage with energy, can  poison, high hp, low retreat, basic pokemon)

    1.  Ninetales (great attack, low retreat, stage 1 pokemon)

    Honorable mention: Moltres-great stall, rapidash, definately NOT CHARIZARD

 

Grass

    3. Scyther (all colorless attack, free retreat, 70 hp, free retreat)

    2. Venusaur (surprised it was close but venusar still has good attack and great power

    1.  Nidoking (60 damage for 3 energies, poison is best status ailment, much easier to find than venusaur)

    Honorable mention: exeggutor, pinsir, beedrill, muk, vileplume

 

Lightning

    3. Base Raichu (great attacks, agility is awesome)

    2. Base zapdos (thunder good with defender, high hp, basic pokemon)

    1. Electabuzz (basic pokemon, 70 hp, 40 with 2 energies, first turn attack)

    Honorable mention: base electrode, fossil raichu, fossil zapdos

 

Fighting

    3. Machamp (good power, great attack, high hp)

    2. Hitmonlee (basic pokemon, high hp, bench damage, good attack, low retreat)

    1. Hitmonchan (basic pokemon, high hp, first turn attack, good attack)

    Honorable mention: machop, dugtrio, aerodactyl

 

Psychic

    3. Gengar (great power, great attack)

    2. Alakazam (great power for stalling, but not very powerful attack)

    1. Mr. Mime (one of most feared cards, great power, good attack)

    Honorable mention: jynx, fossil haunter, fossil gastly, hypno, mewtwo, movie mewtwo, kadabra

 

    I hope you agree with my picks and I think most pokemon experts will, and all of you who think Charizard is the best card don't really know your pokemon.  If you really look at my picks, I think you will agree with me.
