<editor's note:  You know, I think this is the first time Potpourri has ever been called "mindless".  Is it good?  Heck yeah!  Mindless, not even close!  I also take great offense to it being called a pile of monkey crap.  BTW, stop stealing the Rock's lines.  -Scott>

Ya know I'm really starting to hate those stupid Potpourri decks. I mean
after all, once you get down to it there's no way to stop these mindless
decks...unless... Ya throw a Japanese School girl in their faces! Watch that
pile of monkey crap drop their jaws and become mindless slaves to that
Japanese school girl! Laugh while they shuffle all those stupid “No my
pokemon’s on life support” Scoop ups, the "stall the game cause I suck"
Super Energy Removals, the "No my deck has failed" Professor Oak, and all
that cheap pile of monkey crap that goes with that pile of monkey crap!

Well enough with the colorful commentary I just would like to talk about
that card everyone gets in a booster pack and totally dismisses it as the
worst card ever made. (You little 7 yrs olds probably think every card with
100 HP or less is crap anyways) Yep I’m talking about that Japanese school
girl known as Lass. Lass isn’t what I would call a Professor Oak or a CPU
Search, but it will defeat a lot of Potpourri types. If you haven’t played
against one of those cheap Potpourri decks, Lass is able to stop most of
them. Now if ya hadn’t noticed yet, a Haymaker is usually composed of very
little Pokemon (10-12) and most of them have pretty decent HP (70). But what
makes these guys so powerful is an attack requiring only one energy. So
these decks don’t require much energy. The most energy is 18-22 energy in a
deck. So this leaves them with lots of space for cheap trainer cards such as
Super Energy removal, Energy Retrieval, & Scoop ups. Potpourri relies on
messing up an opponent’s timing and strategy while at the same time
calculating how many turns until they’ll be able to kill off your Pokemon.
The first 3 turns for a Potpourri deck is critical because this when they’ll
start using Energy searches and Computer searches for attacking your
Pokemon’s weakness. Not to mention this is when they’ll start burning up
your energy reserve with the Energy Removals. Once into the mid-game, your
opponents will start slowing down and then you think you have em. But in
most cases you don’t. This is when they play Plus Power like crazy to pick
up the pace or they’ll play Scoop ups to waste all those turns you spent on
that pokemon. And of course this is when they’ll play and Oak because they
ran out of good cards. Finally in the late game, your opponents probably
talking smak to you while finishing off your guys with Magmar’s Poison.

Now lets talk about how that Japanese school girl can help you. Since your
opponent’s first hand is going to be two Pokemon, two energy, and the rest
Trainers, try to get rid of those trainers. I mean after all, you know Lass
is going to be played but your opponent doesn’t. Once you knock all those
trainers out of their hands and you played every trainer in your hand before
playing Lass, you can finally see how awful a Potpourri deck is without a
good hand. Now comes to the deck construction with Lass. I really like those
Mewtwo Promos since they have a built in Energy Retrieval in them.  I also
really like the Base Set Dragonairs since they have a built in Energy
removal. Come to think of it, the up coming Rocket expansion has lots of
Pokemon with cool come into play and do what ever that mimics a lot good
Trainer cards. When I talk about Lass I don’t mean carry just one Lass, I’m
talking about carrying 2-3 Lasses in a deck. I mean after all, who doesn’t
have a bedroom full of Japanese school gi…err... Lasses in their binders.
This way you can constantly pick on a Potpourri deck.
