POKEMON RESEARCH LAB
CINNABAR ISLAND

{A man in a scientist's coat and a Mewtwo stand in front of large
computer terminal.}
    Prof. Wolf: Hello Pokemaniacs
    Mewtwo: Greetings Pojo Readers.
Prof. Wolf: Today, I'd like to talk about the third and final Starter
Pokemon in Gold & Silver: The Chikorita Family. Mewtwo, if you please.
    Mewtwo: Of course.
    {Mewtwo steps over to the computer terminal and turns it on.}

    Chikorita
    Grass
    Common
    40HP
    C Tackle: 10
    G: Reflect
Effect:  Whenever an attack does damage to this Pokemon (After applying
Weakness and Resistance.) during your opponent's next turn, that attack only
does half the damage to this Pokemon. (Round down to the nearest 10.) (Any
other effects of attacks still happen.)
    Weakness: Fire
    Retreat: -C

Prof. Wolf: Not very good at all, Reflect doesn't even make up for the
low HP. It has 10 less then Waninoko and Hinoarashi.
Mewtwo: I agree, Tackle is very weak and Weakness to Fire makes it cannon
fodder for Fossil Magmar, Charmander, and Growlithe.

    Beiriifu
    Grass
    Uncommon
    80HP
    G: Sweet Scent
Effect: Flip a coin. If heads remove two damage counters from one of your
Pokemon. If tails, remove two damage counters from one of your Opponent's
Pokemon.
    GGG Double Razor Leaf: 40x
Effect: Flip two coins. Do 40 damage times the number of heads.
    Weakness: Fire
    Retreat: -CC

Prof. Wolf: Beiriifu makes up for the weak Chikorita. It can remove
damage counters from either one of your Pokemon or one of your opponent's
Pokemon. Works well with Mr. Mime.
Mewtwo: Double Razor Leaf has a chance of doing of a maximum of 80 damage
and a minimum of 40 damage. That's pretty good and the 80HP makes sure it
lives long enough to use it a few times.

    Meganiumu
    Grass
    Rare-Holo
    100HP
    [Pokemon Power] Luxurious Growth
Effect: While this Pokemon is in play, all G Energy Card attached to your
G Pokemon provides 2 G Energy. This Power stops working when this Pokemon is
Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, or Poisoned.
    GGGG Aroma Sleep: 40
Effect: The Defending Pokemon is now Asleep.
    Weakness: Fire
    Retreat: -CCC

Prof. Wolf: This guy just screams to be played with Venusaur in a
Mono-Grass Deck. The Pokemon Power is as good as Raindance, Damage Swap,
Energy Trans, Curse, and other Pokemon Powers with Decks based around them.
Mewtwo: Aroma Sleep is pretty good too. 40 Damage and instant Sleep. Very
good. Like Beiriifu, this card makes it worth playing Chikorita.
Prof. Wolf: Well, that's mine and Mewtwo's opinion on the Chikorita
Family. Send all compliments, Hate Mail, Questions on Pokemon
Red/Blue/Yellow, and bomb threats to the E-mail address on the bottom. So,
until next time............
Prof. Wolf & Mewtwo: See ya!
