Hi anyone who's reading (Pojo rocks, we already know all of that stuff).
This is DEATHcanSPELL here writing his first ever 'What's on Top?' article.
I'll do it by type as is the fashion at the moment.

First of All...Grass.
Grass Pokemon often have low health and damage but usually have status
changing attacks and often an interesting Pokemon power.  Grass has split
weakness between Fire and Psychic.  No Pokemon are resistent to Grass
(until Neo anyway).
The Good:  Scyther is a very versatile Basic that can go in most decks.
Venusaur has a nice Pokemon Power and decent attacks and health.  Muk's
Toxic Gas is an excellent Power, shutting down Raindance, VenuCentre,
Aerodactyl decks (without Mew) and Damage Swap decks.  Arbock and Golbat
are extremely fast but have low HP.

The Okay: Beedrill and Nidoking are okay, but Nidoking is slow and Beedrill
lacks power.  Venemoth has a good Pokemon Power but also lacks the
offensive needed to beat Haymaker and Raindancer.  Pinsir is decent but has
lower HP than he usually needs to power up properly.  Vileplume has a cool
Power but it's attack is too expensive and there are other, more efficient,
ways of healing your Pokemon.

The Bad:  For a start, Butterfree!  Only 70HP for a stage 2, andn it has a
cruddy Basic and an only okay Stage 1.  Weezing is also a bad card.  It
only has 60HP and it's first attack takes 2 energy, so he doesn't live to
do a lot of damage, especially in the increasingly  MP Mewtwo tournament
scene.  Tangela is a cruddy basic with no evolution.  Nidoqueen is amusing,
but not an altogether good card.
Victreebell isn't worth speaking about but Weepinbell is not too
bad.Exeggutor and Parasect just aren't up to scratch for Stage 1s.

The Underrated:  Venusaur hardly gets mentioned these days, but he is a
very good card.  Also, most people don't see the true potential of Beedrill
if he is used right.
The Overrated:  Scyther is an excellent card but he isn't quite what a lot
of fans crack him up to be.  Nidoking is rated highly because he is a Mime
suicide machine but it seems to me that that is one of the only reasons
that you would put him in a deck.  Butterfree is also overrated.

Overall
Gold Cup: Scyther
Silver Cup: Venusaur
Bronze Cup: Muk
Wooden Spoon: Parasect

OKAY, now onto the hot guys.  Fire is well known for discarding energy.
They often have low retreat but high energy costs.  They also do straight
damage usually, with no status effects.  On with the show.
The  Good:  Flareon!  Why did they stop printing it?  All you gotta do is
attach a DCE to him and Quick Attack twice while attaching Fire Energy and
then whammo!  Moltres is one of a kind with his Wildfire attack which can
discard your opponents cards till they deck themselves if combined with a
Chansey.  Fossil Magmar is also a card to reckon with with it's lightning
fast status changing cards.  Fossil Magmar's main weakness is his weakness
to water (no pun intended).

The Okay:  Ninetales has good HP and damage but can get nailed by Squirtles
before he has had time to energise.  Arcanine has extremely impressive
health for a stage one but sucks up a bit too much energy.  Ponyta and
Rapidash were used before Fossil Magmar got aroung and are still useful as
long as you have some DCE with you.

The Bad:  First of all, Charizard, the big energy sucker (we all know about
him).  Magmar has good damage for energy attacks but 50HP no evolution is
pretty bad.
Hey, there aren't a lot of fire cards are there?

The Underrated:  Ther aren't any, really.  Fire is such a scarce type that
any good cards get the recognition they deserve.
The Overrated:  I think Ninetales is quite overrated.  He is okay, but his
energy cost is high and Lure isn't really that good.

Overall
The Gold Cup: Fossil Magmar
The Silver Cup: Flareon
The Bronze Cup: Moltres
The Wooden Spoon: I would have to say good ol' Charizard.

That just about wraps it up for the first part of my 'What's on Top?' (and
'What's Rockbottom?').  All of this stuff is all my opinion so don't give
me a hard time about it.  My E-mail address is henshaw@eisa.net.au if you
want it.
Thanks
DEATHcanSPELL.
P.S. To whoever decides to post or not post this, if you post it pleeaase
write my name as DEATHcanSPELL of DCS, not Henshaw.
Thanks again.
Bye for now.
