Dear PoJo, Love the sight! I'm righting this today to express my opinions on three of of the top Water Pokemon for supplements to Blastoise in a Rain Dance deck. Now let's meet the challangers! Vaporean, Jungle didn't give Water much to work with, this pretty much being the top of the line. It's a stage one, with 70 HP. Medirocre, but its better than Fossil's Kabutops...a stage two with 60 HP. He's nimble though, with Quick Attack. For two colorless energies you flip a coin to see if this does 10 or 30 damage. Water Gun is also nift, doing 30 base for two water and one colorless energy. Although to do more, you need to add more blue energy, making him inefficant. His speed is an asset, with a retreat cost of one, and the generic water weakness to electricity. Yet with a hidious energy to counter ratio of .8/1, he gets a 2.5 of a possbile 5.0. Dewgong The Sea Lion of Terror! This guy probably has the strongest evolution platfor in Seel, who has 60 HP. Packing 80 HP of its own, it also has Mediocre health. Still, with a strong platform to evolve from, he's bound to stay alive for a little bit. A great Mono-Water or Multi-Color deck Pokemon, his first attck Aurora Beam does 50 damage for two water and one colorless. His second attack does 30 with a chance of Paralysis, for two water enegy and two coloreless. With a retreat cost of three, Dewgong is gonna be staying where he is for a while if in the active slot. He has Water's linear weakness as well to Electric Coupled with a decent E/C ratio of 1.14/1 he's really better than Vaporean in most regards. Also being an Uncommon, he's really the most cost effective of any Water Pokemon. He gets a 4.0 out of 5.0 Gyarados The Kill-All-Water-Dragon-of-Doom! Gyarados is one of the closest things to the Perfect Pokemon. With powerhouse attacks, being a stage one, and having a non-linear weakness, he rules most decks. With a beefy 100 HP, he's able to a lickin and keep on tickin. His first attack for three water energies is Dragon Rage, which does 50 damage. His second attack, Bubblebeam does 40 damage for four water energies and a chance at paralyze. Not bad at all. What makes Gyarados so deadly is two things. First his Non-Linear weakness, Grass instead of Electric. The other is his resistence to fighting. With a retreat cost of three though and being a holofoil, he can be quite costly. Yet hi E/C of 1.29/1 makes up for that! All right, we've seen all the contenders who will get the title? Well, remember this is based on a Mono-Water Rain Dance deck, centered around Blastoise. So the lineup looks like this... 3. Vaporean 2. Dewgong and first is... 1. Gyarados All right, that pretty much finishes this...BTW, all E/C was calculated by taking the base amounts of damage dealt(not adding + or - anything) and dividing it by the numbers of energy required to do the base attacks. -CJ pokefreakazoid@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
